People wondering why A count might plot with a younger son don't realize how often that sort of thing actually occurred. Lambert is being used and groomed as a means for the count (The Baron's leige) to regain control of the Barony legally back into their line. It's a way of consolidating power through casus-belli down the line. Generally, in order for a leige lord to declare on one of their subjects without provoking full on rebellion, or at least stalling it, is to come up with a means of legitimency. In this case, it would be by having a daughter or son marry one of the subjects children, which would then give them a chance at either peacefully gaining the territory through inheritence, or even just declaring war by claiming it for one of said couples offspring.

..Is the ra*e stuff really necessary for a story like this though? Is it that difficult to write a more mature story without being excessively violent or sexual..Jeez

Very poorly elaborated/written at the start. the first half of the chapter makes absolutely no sense.

Love this series, hope as he strays away from the NCR after this that he starts looking more at recruiting more in the way of followers, people he can use etc. He has his companions, each with their own skillsets that can help him essentially train an micromanage his own faction. And as great as being individually strong is..Numbers still matter. Even the Brotherhood, for all their tech and skill, got wrecked. He was there. Ain't no way he isn't considering starting his own faction, right?? Plus, kid has shown some pretty strong ambition. If he takes Vegas..Well, there is the rest of the Mojave..And the U.S to go 😉. And who wouldn't love to see this series expand further into the wastes.

I do actually hope we see them recruit into the faction and build up the island defense etc. Love myself a bit of kingdom building/army leading, and it looks like a lot of that may come in to play in the future with various factions trying to take over territory etc. I also feel like while Jake is not the type to necessarily "lead" he would absolutely get his rocks off building a huge ass impenetrable fortress.. Just to be a smug asshole about it. "Come get me" kind of attitude towards other powers, only to watch them flail against his overpowered defenses. 🤣 Is it wrong that in my headcanon, Jake is genuinely just a dick that enjoys seeing other people fail against his efforts?

Jake really is the ideal "unwilling leader" type. Will is honestly a genius for taking advantage of that fact. He definitely knows Jake could care less about leading a faction, but he also knows Jake won't simply pass up the advantages of having one. Thus, it's a win win. Jake gets his faction, doesn't need to do much more than the basic leadership stuff, maybe impose his will here or there and help raise up some members or lead people in fights, meanwhile, more business savvy or political minded people like Will get to increase both Jake, the faction and of course their own power by doing all the what Jake sees as "annoying" stuff.

Literally writing 12 year old romance and semi-smut. Defend it all you want, that just makes you equally as disgusting. This shit is not okay and I am sick of authors writing it into their stories. Unnecessary. Period.

Kind of expected that to be honest. As if Jake or Ruby would truly attribute to some Oracle-based mumbo jumbo of "soul mates". Yes, I think they WILL eventually get together, but on their own merits, not some convoluted and manipulated BS. Ruby was shown to be a very selfish and self-serving character when she appeared in the first Ordeal. She was clearly shown to be manipulating and using her allies for her own gain. Just. Like. Jake. Jake will use his allies until they have no use to him. He is selfish, greedy and individualist. His "team" are simply useful to him in the sense that being solo in the new world CAN be detrimental sometimes. But he is still the same person he was when he first began, just a little more social. But yeah, Ruby leaving him to die and taking the stones is very in-character I think. I think Jake has himself to blame however for still trusting a mission from the Oracle so blindly. But that is most likely his own reward-hunger and greed being used against him. Hopefully this is a lesson and he will be able to tell the Oracle to go **** itself next time it gives him such an obviously manipulated mission.

Are you effing kidding me? I spent something like $80 NZD on privilege this month for this book alone, only to now hear that it may be dropped? What a joke. Well, learned my lesson I guess. Never purchasing coins on here again if this sort of BS is a risk where shit can be dropped with no consequences.

I feel like when Ruby and Jake finally interact, we are going to have some regular entertainment. She seems like she has a very strong personality, but I get the feeling it is more of a reaction to the atmosphere and people she is around. With Jake, I hope she reverts to the excitable and somewhat mischievous attitude we saw when she first met him. Feel like Jake needs to get pranked/joked with a bit more.

I really hope we get to see the MC experiment and explore his Psionic-based abilities with Aether.Love the direction of Aetherist, and as much use as I see in him continuing to upgrade his physical body and abilities, I would be lying if I said I'm not bored with MC's that use their fists and fight close range constantly. A good mix is always nice, but so many stories boil down to fights just becoming a slugfest and to me that is a waste of potential. So many cool things you can do with Psionics. Especially as in depth as this. Aether can literally rearrange matter at will..So all I picture is Jake fighting someone in the future, shaping sand into shards of supersonic glass, only to be blocked by a wall of super compressed air or something by his opponent. Shit, now that I wrote it, think: Voldemort vs Dumbledore in Harry Potter. But so much more. Of course, throw in some close quarters combat as well to make it interesting and back and forth. Jake dives into the ground while the opponent can't see, appears behind the enemy only to get his fist stopped short, frozen by a wall of ice, the opponent about to reverse strike him with a sword but making the mistake of looking Jake in the eyes? Boom, mental suppression in order to escape decapitation while breaking his fist free from the ice. Either way Author, you are doing an incredible job with this story. If you happen to read this, I hope my brief blurb gives you a few ideas for fights down the line. I know from experience how difficult they can be to write with people having different tastes. Myself included obviously. Just know that this is YOUR story and you need to write it the way YOU want it to flow.

Unless he finds a way to use it for something, it is mostly useless to him in it's current form sadly, aside from the scanning range. His teacher will likely have ideas on how best to use it though.

I love how the MC is basically doing Goku/Piccolo training right now with all that extra weight. I hope he ends up selling/losing the weight part after the Ordeal, only to realize that his body has gotten used to it to the point it no longer affects him.
