I think it's the story of the path of slaughter but the choices being different because it was lucien who chose who to slaughter (those who had to die in his eyes) , but I think that the Mal'arath chose to slaughter every one. Hence the story being the same (becoming the god of slaughter) but the choices being different.

Yes, author mentioned it in one of his author's note that he changes healing to vitality in the futurs chapters guess this chapter was it.
In his experience Vitality was a rarer attribute. It was his first one, and Tess now had it as well as a few others in the estate, but not many. Neither Tyr, Delia, or Theo had a vitality attribute.
