I've never understood the concept of archers being unable to defend themselves in close combat. Mind you yes archery would imply they attack only from a distance but realistically speaking an archer that's unable to defend himself in close quarters is a trashy archer to begin with.
When both started trading blows, Tsubaki had silently rooted for Yuuto to win, knowing that not only was he an accomplished swordsman but a powerful Knight as well. Plus she doubted that swordsmanship would be something that an archer would be particularly skilled at.
