It’s a common misconseption that you shoot one arrow at a time. Historically we know they shoot 2 or 3 arrows at a time in battles, making them faster than crossbows. Even with guns you have to compensate for direction, wind etc. for a professional medieval shooters bows would be better option overall also lighter than crossbow
One did not need to aim while drawing the string on a crossbow, so it required less expertise from the user.
