Charizard is definitely cool, but for a balanced team, it isn't really worth it to add another flying type unless he's going to specialize. Personally, I'd choose a water type or a ground type. This would let him excel in air, land, or sea. If you are interested in a starter pokemon, then mudkip would be an excellent choice(great on land or in water and eventually evolves into quite the powerhouse).
