I am saying this under assumption that they can also absorb nature energy like Pain did with his fight with Naruto. And since sun gives life to planet it can be considered concentration of nature energy. I don't know if i am right or wrong on this, but thats what i am thinking.

I thought it was weird when it was said that chakra increases only when Mangekyo is active, but i didn't say anything as i thought you changed it to better suit your story.
