Take a step back and look at the situation not with real life common sense but from the perspective of this being a light novel in where Rias’ engagement with Riser likely didn’t exist until the author thought, ‘what kind of conflict can I make up for this next volume?’ If there’s no conflict in a story then there’s no tension or a way to move the storyline forward. So if Rias and her peerage were anywhere close to Riser in strength there’d be no tension or a reason for them to attempt to get a lot stronger in such a short period of time. This happens with many series in where the author makes things up as they go and eventually storyline events don’t line up organically. Before Balance Breaker was made up, it was said in the novel that boosted gear evolved and would eventually cover more of Issei’s body starting with his arm. Ophis was directly stated to be the most powerful being in the world initially but then all the sudden later there’s Great Red which is why I’ve come across some fanfics that state that only higher ups know about Great Red to explain the discrepancy. These fictional worlds eventually become so dense with lore and progression that we look back to the beginning and think ‘why didn’t they do this or why did they wait to do that?’ instead of seeing the key elements of story telling the author was following to tell the story.
He only does that in the English dub.
To be fair, DxD was poorly planned and a lot of the potholes make Rias seem lazy or lucky which has led to a lot of fanfics writers to exaggerate it more. I also think that the anime adaptation didn’t help with the change of Issei being under Rias’ radar before he died like it was a part of a insidious plan when both the manga and Light Novel start after he was reincarnated.
I delayed reading this chapter because I expected something like this… it just made me feel bad again…
I never cried or felt too bad about Naruto’s background story, especially later when you see the worse ones like Gaara’s and sadder ones like Gai’s but I cried for Rock Lee’s multiple times and also that scene where Lee escapes his hospital and tries to train only to collapse. Lee really deserved better in the series but since he wasn’t the protagonist he was overshadowed for most of the series.
Fair point.
How were you able to figure it out? In Naruto there’s tons of flashbacks where they never specify exactly how long ago they happened or is it in your story that you set her to be this age?
Tsunade is probably around their age at this point since Kawaki died a 12 around this time and she shouldn’t be too much older than him. Plus I rewatched the flashback in the episode and her voice is so much more younger and girly than it usually is.
Whoops. Well it was never stated how long Tsunade dated Dan before he died… well I feel a little less bad about this if their relationship is still fresh.
I wouldn’t. I’ve never found Tsunade appealing.
Fr, I’m not too comfortable when it’s a taken woman in a loving relationship.
Loot!
Not really. Think about it, he’ll be back there eventually after canon starts and we’ll see a grown up Robin who will remember him fondly and be grateful instead of in canon where she was unable to fully trust anyone most of her life and then there’ll be Nami too.
Fair mistake, the sentence didn’t include the words hair or skin so a quick read could make you miss it.
The author is refering to his light blond hair being almost snow white not his skin.
