In my opinion, I don't mind the grieving, PTSD, walking out of your shadow and all that. But it has been too much lately with the whole family (Raaz, Tista, Kami, ... and Lith all the time) to the point beyond saturation to self-pity. And they are the one dishing out thousands of deaths. It will be fresh for the story if I can see someone with yellow core with dead family spit on Lith's face right now. Why is your emo so important? What about others? Real war is so brutal you don't get your loved one body back. No time to grieve or even think, just a unending struggle to live. All the lately development feel staged (like a soap opera) and I don't like it. Do Ukrainians have 5 days of no fighting every time they lose important officers? Imo, let the pain pile up, it will hit like a truck later, not a pity session every 10 chapters.
Author-nim already gave Thrud every create codes possible, so it is a mighty task to create a higher stake battle than this one. IDK. In the middle of the war and people still go out on date to get captured is beyond me. With this much power, why do you even need Phloria? to hurt Lith emotionally? Legain better be there to shield Valeron else people (Royals, Jirni, Orion, ...) will not take kindly to all the "smart" decisions Thrud made.
Tyris: Oh, Thrud wants to destroy my husband's toys and my friend's life work. Sure, they were stupid from the start. ‐------------ Thrud: I love the kingdom. Let's destroy all the schools, none has been a threat or cause any trouble to me from the start of the war. Rebuilding them is a piece of cake, right.
Val: Okay, hear me out, let's pull massive amount of resources to turn the Ivy Leagues into aircraft carriers, filled with countless non-military personnel, untrained mages and civilians. It will solve something right. Menadion: Sure, but to be cool, they have to be chained together by highly flammable fuel line that another carrier will totally not attack. Val: Son of a b..... I'm in.
That was pure jealousy, borderline stupidity. Albeit, she is pregnant and entitled to whatever, but the crest is about Lith achievement and Solus is biggest reason in that (half, if you will). Back to the thing about Kami has to learn stuff before the kid. What? You don't have to be her teacher, just be her mom. Elina is no mage but Lith loves her the same. If the kid is magical gifted, let her be, give her your love and support, don't push your limits onto your child. Like a Constable have time for their children, pffft. I bet the kid will call Elina her mom sooner or later.
Also, with how paranoid Lith is, how overwhelmed Kamila is for the marriage, child, and neither of them are magnanimous idiot, it is a big ask to have them take care of another baby, especially that of their mortal enemy. Scarlett, the newly minted Guardian of Children, is probably the best choice. Baba is also good, but she will be privy on how the life-force merge and stuff.
Author-nim, although you show a great scene of how mad Thrud is, she decided to entrust her son to Lith is a bit too calculating. she just lost her husband and I think it's a missed opportunity to show her soft/broken side a bit. We all know and love how mad/calculating she is. But a small blunder will flesh her out as a woman/mother/wife better. This decision should be made upon her death, a mother using her last moment to give her son a better chance in life. She should never decide to give her most loved person to her most hated person RIGHT NOW. The bloodline abilities is not a good reason because Protheus is much better for that aspect. People (including me) may disrespect her for thinking of leeching a new bloodline. All in all, tyftc.
It could be. Think "beauty and the beast", my fella. True love can last for just a moment, but its brilliance and warmth felt through our hearts.
Nah, Carl is Lith unchained personal Soul Guardian. He kept it from Lith so Lith doesnt worry and try stupid stuff to "release/free" him again.
I have been reading a book on mental illness lately and this chapter hits like a ton of bricks. All these emotions (fear, anger, despair, grieve) and thoughts buried deep in his psyche like many others, albeit given a separate lifeforce to actually think, manifest. The imagery of a blackhole also perfectly capture how a depressed person feel and Solus, his Sun/Star is the perfect thing for him as a listener/partner through almost everything (except intimate momemts with Phloria and Kami). Man, how can I love this book more. Also, pretty nice capturing/feel of Derek's mindset from beginning of book. It also reassures Solus role as the soulmate for life, no matter if Lith got married and had children. This feel like therapy.
