Looking around in the youthful, enthusiastic, and active crowd his lone tepid, lazy, and pessimistic figure seemed far far away despite standing amongst them. Not necessarily a lack of continuity. There are plenty of instances where a person views themselves far differently than society does. We just got to know how the character views himself, which isn’t too surprisIng due to his severely low self-esteem.
