and even from a scientist perspective, why would they use big words to communicate with as you said, what's basically an alien? wouldn't they speak more casually to him so they can find some common ground and try to establish a friendship if not partnership? I'm just trying to understand and again not hating.

I just want to say, I'm not hating on your novel. I actually really do like it and it's really interesting. and my critique was mostly for how the MC was talking. as far as I remember and I could be wrong. he wasn't a scientist or anything like that. he was just some regular guy, that's why I thought he should be speaking more casually.

Read the paragraph again. You used a bunch of words that mean the same thing. Basically you used a bunch of big words to sound more educated. You don't have to do that, most Americans don't do that.
