I’m sorry you feel that way, the quotations are to establish the character without showing his name cause at this point it doesn’t matter, since the MC Alexander will have a new name. And later on the quotations used will be his inner monologue while normal text is him narrating the story.

Watch this new running gag come up where everytime the MC says Sheogorath’s name a cheese wheel rolls by, and the MC proceeds to use that in the middle of big fight and he just says Sheo’s name 20 times.
"Look, I understand blaming yourself for their mom, but you can't blame yourself for their father. A dragon literally swooped down from the sky and bit him in half. You can't get any more random than if Sheogorath himself popped down and gave us a wheel of cheese!" Can’t tell you how much I love that spell. Apocalypse spells in general are the best. I only just recently learned of the deep storage spell and I love it!

I look to my right, where the rest of my fellow prisoners are bound, and still see Lokir. It seems like he really didn't run after all. I haven’t really gotten much into what races on Earth could match with Nirn. But they technically could since Breton’s are half man and mer. It’s never specified what Mer or Man they’re supposed to be.
Figure: OK, listen up. Nirn is parallel to Earth, meaning they're both essentially the same planet, albeit with slight differences. Those subtle differences, though, can be covered...like magic in this world and lack thereof in yours. Meanwhile, your DNA isn't too different from the DNA of certain races in Nirn.
