ya you have a point making animal sinew would be hard for a normal person on earth to make. ig he would have to find someone there with the knowledge to help him without alerting authorities. (apparently making certain weapons is illegal there lol). Making the water wheel shouldn't be too hard still? He can still automate some basic process like how people used water wheels to grind grain or for hammering and other things.
