3rd option is also possible, introduce female for character building. Also please consider to make some failures for Ian, so it's not only one pattern of success. e.g rivalry from some director, so Ian learn not to be conceited by the knowledge. Some issues due to conflict with actors. Baby father might be nice tor character building, can add some more past baggages
