Totally broke whatever dark and dangerous tone going on with the inclusion of Valera. Starting from when she showed up, the story went from dangerous to childishly comedic. The writing is still great, I just personally find Valera’s characterization as a cliche ditzy cheerleader-esque undead very dislikable. If this were anime, I bet I would constantly see an “uwu uwu” cutesy scene.
This drama would’ve been a nice touch if the novel included how he got close to his soldiers, an emotional attachment to the readers. Right now, it’s just him being so emotional over people he leads but barely knows like a novice soldier and not a seasoned general.
A lord hunting for rats, really? Quite odd for a lord of the place to be given and doing menial labor, excuse me, “quests” from his own people in his own town. Are there no administration level quests related to him being a lord? There’s more but maybe it’ll be answered in later chaps. Otherwise, I like it so far~
