They know of the existence of charged particles, they just don't know that electrons are part of the inner structure of the atom or that what they think are positrons are actually atoms with less electrons than protons, they think electrons and "positrons" are sticking onto the atoms and adding a positive or negative charge here.
For you or anyone else who some across this comment who's still confused, he's telling Audrey to take out a loan using her shares in another company as collateral, so if she can't pay it back the bank collects those shares, then use that loan money to buy the shares of the bike company, take out *another* lower interest loan using those bike company shares as collateral, and pay off the first loan with the money from the second loan. She's then just betting that the value of the bike company will grow faster than the second loan's interest accumulates. This is how the rich stay rich, they buy things that make them money by using your money in the bank and if it doesn't make money, they didn't actually risk any of their own money cuz the bank just collects the thing that isn't making money.
I know he's acting the way he is because he's still a child, but I kinda wish he waited for the last minute before he teleported to confront them so he could teleport right when they think they've got him surrounded and leave them with ominous words that he would return with the power to crush them all
I'm guessing... this might be some kind of conspiracy to wipe out the chrutins and any other magical forces in the country or something like that. Emery's father was probably ostracized because he married a chrutin and had a half chrutin child, and the last thing they want is for a supernatural bloodline to mix into royalty with any political power. The "peace" isn't peace between nations or lords but "peace" from eliminating the supernatural forces they can't control, and in the end, considering the lack of superstition today, they might succeed.
I knew it from the moment Padraig promised to let him go if he beat Emery, he had no reason to let him go, it was just his way of setting up a win-win situation. Either he lets Bagdemagus kill Emery and let him go while making it look like he was being honorable, or he appeases Emery and can stop him from killing at the last moment. Either way the fight went, Bagdemagus survives and he looks the part of an honorable knight. Glad to see Emery being more cautious, but hopefully he'll learn to pick up on things like that soon.
It reads a bit funny imo, maybe this would be a better way of punctuating it: However, 'this wasn't the right timing, calm yourself Emery,' he told himself.
Also, he should wear armor! In fantasy games armor's downside is always that it inhibits movement and stealth and it's very heavy, but in actual history it was always custom fit and didn't slow knights down one bit! The reason it was only worn by knights is that it's extremely expensive to make since steel had to be forged by hand by pounding the carbon from coal into the iron it was heating, while now we can mass produce it by heating it to a MUCH higher temperature in kilns, and it cost money to maintain and repair, which only a lord could afford to do with constant income. Now we wear kevlar armor instead because steel doesn't stop bullets, but I bet magic armor could! Maybe even kevlar magic armor... or black carbon fiber... or black and transparent graphene.....
I can see emery becoming a wizard night, but rather than using swordsmanship offensively, he'd use it defensively. A sword's greatest strength is its reach, unlike something like a spear it can not only pierce anyone at the end of its reach but also slash anyone inside of it, plus with a hilt it's easy to parry even at extremely close quarters. I could see Emery using a sword in one hand to thwart attackers, maybe even imbuing it with magic to parry not just weapons but spells and projectiles, and in the other hand he'd have a magic wand or staff to cast offensive and even tactical magic, warping the terrain and teleporting around the battlefield. I'm actually building a d&d character around this concept myself right now, a 1 level defensive fighter who then goes all into war magic wizard! With the right feats and items, I think it'll make for an amazing gish!
I read daily and it's still jarring lol, but thanks for listening to my opinion and constantly trying to improve your writing!
This is just my personal opinion, but it feels jarring to read about the same event happening at the beginning of a chapter as what happened at the end of the last one. I think your writing might be improved by simply omitting this first paragraph and continuing directly from where you left off like you were reading one continuous story instead.
I can see some of the sisters being attracted to Emery right off the bat, but if you're gonna do a harem, please have the romance develop NATURALLY between them! I don't mind harems when the romance is done right and, in the case of a harem ending, the polyamory isn't forced onto anyone that really doesn't want it, but a lot of harem stories just have the girls fall head over heels for the guy cuz he does something "cool" or saves her and then there's absolutely no chemistry between them. đ
They already said that there was a case where someone strictly quarantined themselves and they still became a heartless, so I think it's most likely a result of mysticism. ***MAJOR SPOILERS FOR Lord of the Mysteries*** Honestly I'm starting to think more and more that this is a prequel to LotM set between the modern era and the first epoch, Klein did find a facility with firearms far more advanced than the modern era in the forsaken land of the gods when he ran into an Amon coming up out of a part of the chaos sea so it kinda fits.
