With my name being Richard its a bit weird reading my name a lot.

So from what I understand this isn't a result of the Demi Lich but rather the penalty of being given a second chance by these mysterious figures. Or maybe the drawback of gaining that legendary skill and using it. After all it stated that the Demi-Lich's final attempt on Eiro's life was blocked or halted by the state that Eiro was in at the time. The drawback from that ability happened right after.
