How on earth does it seem like it could have ended sooner?? The filler and overdrawn dialogue is understandable, but the power system in this novel and setting are clearly drawn out since the beginning and the mc is clearly nowhere near a semblance of an ending.

Overall a solid story. Sometimes there is a bit too much dialogue between characters that seems to flow without stopping, which becomes odd in certain scenarios like the party being in the middle of combat or having a family dinner while escaping an exploding slave den. While it does get somewhat overwhelming, the characters are well developed and expressive and I am never left wondering what theyre thinking about. Writing wise, there is a glaring inconsistency. In the beginning, there is an explicit distinction made between devils and demons, as well as the names of their various subspecies. This is lost around 70 chapters in where everything just starts to be called a “demon” and their subspecies names become lumped in as random demon species. It gets very confusing at times, with instances such as fallen angels being called “sucuubi” instead, when in the movel they are a completely different species.

Starts off unique and interesting. Like the summary says, mc starts off scorned and decides to cultivate an unparalleled demonic technique. While the premise is somewhat basic and generic akin to most cultivation novels, I don't that's an issue here. They manage to use the trope well while delivering a strong and entertaining main character. This all changes in the 200-300 chapter range however. The glue starts to come apart at the seams when the character suddenly gets a top-tier fire spiritual root and decides to go join an immortal cultivation school. He ends up joining the weapon-crafting branch of the school due to his root and learns blacksmithing, which isn’t too horrible. I don’t usually mind when an mc picks up one or two other tricks besides their main focus usually(do keep in mind though that in the beginning, the character is already a scholar well versed in literature, poetry and philosophy, etc). This quickly snowballs however as he becomes the top genius in the alchemy and formation department, and decides to become a flying sword master as well because why not. Then the character begins to turn a complete 180 and start freaking out when he starts to turn into a demon after cultivating a technique he was explicitly told was made by and for demons and explicitly confirmed that he did not care and still wanted to cultivate the technique. So what does he do? Cultivates thunder techniques too. Cause somehow even though he has a fire root he has thunder spiritual energy in his blood at this point even though it’s the antithesis to demonic techniques I guess. MC is misadvertised and quickly becomes an everything burger. If you’re fine with that, go ahead and give it a go. I’m done with this though.

Inconsistent. Pedo vibes. Do not recommend.

One moment she’s talking about hoarding the blessed land for her clan and the next she’s suddenly willing to sacrifice her life for the mc? That doesn’t sound quite right.

Oh so now he’s suddenly going to become gifted in all elements and become the last air bender. Great. My interest is plummeting.

Misleads you with an interesting plot, then 100+ chapters in throws away the main selling point of the novel. Runes subsequently disappear and this just becomes a monster fighting/collecting system novel.

WARNING: This is a monster pet fighting novel!!! If you are interested in reading this because you think that this may be some kind of story about a character with unique runes that have different abilities and he has a system to upgrade them, then this isn’t the novel for you. The system is primarily a pet upgrading system. While the mc does get other abilities he can upgrade through the system, they are very secondary and a minor focus of the overall novel. There are no real “runes” in this novel. Runes are simply used as nomenclature replacing the normal names of standard things such as loot, classes, spells, attacks, equipment, summons and etc. Keep in mind, the mc can only utilize summons and equipment out of all of these things due to their class restriction(summoner). If you can look past that, this is a decently written rpg monster fighter/loot collector story, but that’s all.
