I batch unlocked chapters before a flight (so I could download and read them offline) based on the translation/writing quality of the first ~30 chapters, and now I feel completely and utterly scammed. The translator after that point dropped preexisting character names, constantly mixes up pronouns, translates words that shouldn't be (like names or other characters, I'm guessing, wtf is a "yingluo"?), doesn't translate words that were translated earlier, doesn't seem to know or keep consistent what character's names are, doesn't even pretend not to be machine translating, and might not even be an English speaker? Why is this book so highly rated and widely read? Does the translator change again later to make it readable again? I grew quite attached to the premise, pace, and world building in those early chapters, and I've already paid for it all, which is why I'm still reading, but I'm making this review so others don't have to make the same mistake I did.

Did Guy never study any psychology or psychoanalysis? You're supposed to integrate with your shadow, not suppress it. Hope some shadow work is coming soon :p
