By the way, note that "live on" is not the same as "visiting". The latter is just a short time stay while "live on" is more permanent which is where the issues appear (which is why it's still dangerous even after such a long time). Even "if" you could live for decades in the radiation zone, the only condition required for it to be considered lethal is that the radiation is the main culprit behind your eventual death.

Attack is usually much higher than defense so in most worlds it makes perfect sense to have guards even if they are much weaker, moreover if multiple strong enemies show up at the same time then having guards that can delay atleast one enemy would help alot.
