The story is good so far, I like it, don't try to rewrite and focus on improving your writing for upcoming chapters instead. as for word count, just try to maintain consistency, like writing 500 words on a set schedule is better than 1000 but on and off, eventually you should be able to write 500 word chapters faster, then maybe you can try to increase word count. but yea, the story idea is good, it had some problems in the beginning but i am liking it better now.
