Historically, many pirates ship used to have many former slaves. Especially, since the British slave ship used to be prime targets for Pirate groups. The British and Spaniards were the primary naval powers and were at war a couple of times, and Privateers turn pirates would still side with their country, and at the time the British empire sagged with too many colonies needing slave labor.

Pretty fun fic, doesn't take itself too seriously and sets a pretty fast pace without sacrificing too much of the plot. Character interaction drives the story, and most of the time it's entertaining.
