Not sure what other people are saying, but a lot of the chapter was composed of unnescessary filler to make up the word count. This whole thing with the soul link is something that they already experimented with, and the result between the two wasn't enough to warant all this uneeded caution. Therefore what was the need for the constant back and forth that took up about half of the entire chapter? You have to remember that this is a pay to read site. Not everyone is gonna feel good about wasting money on a filler chapter where no progress took place.
Finally makes a bit of sense now, took a while though.
Him holding back on attacks that could destroy the bridge has nothing to do with fighting normally. Even before he forged the sword, he was able to slaughter 2nd order enemies, and he was less powerful back then, he fought 1v4 and managed to kill 2 before the others retreated and he even killed a 2nd order Asura with a single punch later on. In the Oblon world he didn't draw his sword a single time when killing 2nd order enemies and even killed a 3rd order enemy without using it. He only used it when fighting the Emperor's wife. So explain to me again how that makes sense and isn't just a plot nerf so that Bing Xue would have to enter the scene.
Really not a fan of plot nerfing. Even if he has to hold back to avoid damaging the bridge too much, there's no reason for him to be struggling so much against a few second orders scrubs. For one thing, the way he's fighting is just outright dumb. He could've easily taken the tentacle zombie's life in that clash by aiming for the head or even splitting him in half in that moment, yet he instead bores a hole through the middle of it's body and is for some reason surprised when an EVOLVED ZOMBIE manages to survive that. Then there's the fact that he's not making proper use of Blood Manipulation, his actual main skill, at all. If he can manage to control hundreds of blood spears at once then he can definitely manage a couple of well crafted blood swords that are powerful enough to be a threat while not being strong enough to destroy the bridge. Not to mention the endless other ways Blood Manipulation could be used in this fight, such as using the enemies own blood against them, all he's done so far is make mid-air platforms. Then there are parts that just don't make sense. For instance, there's no way that alligator should have been able to escape when he was rushing at it full speed, not even being weighed down by his great sword. There's no way a mere second order zombie should have come anywhere close to matching him in raw strength such that he was actually pushed back to any degree in a direct confrontation. Even if it's currently weakened, a third order flame still holds great utility in a fight of this level. Why are all of his enemies suddenly able to keep up with his movement and reaction speed such that even the long ranged attacks of first order beings are sure to land if he doesn't destroy them? Worst of all is the sudden instance of mental deficiency. It really took him all that time to figure that he could direct the brunt of his attacks skyward to prevent damaging the bridge? And why are all of his attacks consisting of basic charges all of a sudden with little to no ingenuity and no proper utilization of his myriad of skills? The answer to all of the above is obviously because there needs to be a reason for Shangguan Bing Xue to have to get involved in the fight, and that's the part that makes me most disappointed. Temporarily dumbing down and nerfing the main character is the worst way to make a side character shine in my opinion. How do you go from fighting against and dominating near peak third order beings to needing to be saved in a fight against two second order beings? Even if his current stats aren't what they were in the Oblon World, there's no way he should be struggling to the point that his life is constantly in danger.
I feel like that would be a little too obvious.
But he clearly did way more damage though. For the most part Bing Xue just gave it a few nasty gashes while he literally roasted it alive before ripping out it's own spine and using it to decapitate it.
World: I hate you, I love you, I hate that I love you đ”
After all the death and havok that beast caused, a swift decapitation is way too unsatisfying. It would've been better if he'd grabbed by it's jaws and slowly ripped it apart with his bare hands. That would've shown his burning rage for it killing his troops as well as display his power that no longer treats the first order as anything but garbage.
Reincarnation would be the obvious theory. The Bai Zemin of the past brought her up to the point she's at now before dying in a fight against the rest of the universe and reincarnating as the current Bai Zemin under the watchful eyes of Lilith and Sirius.
