You forgot to say that while the gorgon stay on a desert island. It's Athena that convince so many people that there is some monster living there and periodicly send "Heroes" to kill it. Ending with Theseus killing the Gorgon. (Who admitively kill all those send before but it's clearly self defense)

401 years before christ, somewhere in central America... more than 2000 years before World War 1 & 2. She got time.
As the current year is 401 BCE, I don't really have any major expectation for events happening on Earth. The 'golden period' for events on Earth is still hundreds of years later in the modern age. This leaves us with uncertainty about what is happening in the current world. Since the comics have not shown many events happening in this time period, I have to figure out the situation myself.
