it's a shame .The commercial mechs have by far the most interesting design processes. I am excited to see the monster slayer in action, but Ves making a commercial doom crawler is something I've wanted since he made the war crime machine. The only non commercial mech that could get me that excited would be a Golden Cat tiger mech đ

at 20-30% casualties a unit is considered defeated in reality, so it's more like 50 times as many. Doesn't the clan have like 30 candidates? if they all perform like that they're equivalent to several thousand ordinary soldiers.

the exchangeable companion idea reminds me of Titanfall 2, where the mechs have removable ai cores that can slot into any standard mech
Ves could implement this easily enough in the Larkinson Army, but he wasn't entirely sure if this was the right strategy to adopt for his troops. As a mech designer, Ves frequently designed new mech and better mechs. He had a duel against a mta employed journeyman. Ves tried to win by making the design duel be based on who could make the best third rate striker mech, the type of mech furthest from the first rate multi-purpose mechs the MTA journeyman was used to. Ves lost, but Joshua broke through to expert candidate while losing, and the other journeyman was so impressed that he forfeited his win.

He lost his one design duel against a first rater. Besides, as a holy son, Ves arguably qualifies as a first rater himself (from the gene/psitech specialized first rate superpower, even). Mr. S has supplied him with mods superior to admittedly outdated CFA offerings.

He says that, but Ves agrees with pretty much every belief of the ascentionist sub-sect of the Yvlanians and sincerely believes that Yvlaine was a true prophet. The only place his beliefs conflict with the Religion is in their moral teachings.

rather than expert mechs, i'd say the primary use would be in creating a standardized quasi-expert/prime version of the bright warrior for his expert candidated

The Cross Clan was a bit more troublesome to the Larkinsons because they claimed a large chunk of military veterans who were attracted to a more overt martial culture. There was a simplistic, one-dimensional appeal to joining a brotherhood that was largely centered around war and glory.
