True, but only if you have many joining your fight. If not, scorched earth, human shields, ransacking cities etc. are more effective tactics.Since common people aren't very useful it is best to slaughter the weak, take all the resources, use waves of POWs to wear out the enemy, brainwash and train the more promising ones, capture slaves for labour to continue the war effort etc. So yeah....it very well could be their demise.

Well, whether or not it's harsh depends on how much you have and what the cost of living is. The question is more how much that hurts them and whether they get anything in return or if they just do with the money whatever they want.

No reason to have any attachments anyways. He's immortal and will outlive everyone in such a tiny place many times over. So yeah, I would kill everyone who finds out no matter what, minimize Interaction to the minimum necessary to get what I need to get stronger and constantly switch locations and looks as much as possible.

Thanks for the chapter! I hope we'll get the chance to Do more quest/System stuff, resolve another part of the Main Star peak mystery and push MC's power level a bit. I think it's time to at least bump him up to where we have a clearer outline of his progression and officially get him to the point where he doesn't need to be so afraid of soul ascension cultivators, even if we can't make him the strongest in sky empire in one move, we should be getting there in the near future. Just my opinion though.

I'm excited to see her meet our MC and join the sect. It's nice to see her win in a more obscure and obviously accidental fashion rather than by somehow being broken af for no reason. I much rather have it be fate than adjusting her powerlevel to whatever the plot needs it to be without any consistency. The only thing I wonder is how the participant was supposed to clear that trial. If it's scaled too her level, there would be no realistic chance to clear the trial, unless winning the fight wasn't the only way to pass.

Thank's for the chapter. Happy to see more of her, she's pretty interesting and a great tool for exposition about the world at large way before our MC gets to interact with it. I hope she'll be more important later on. Aside from some parts of the alchemy competition the chapters with her were definetly my favourite ones when it comes to disciple/potential disciple related chapters. :)

Yeah a sort of afterstory would be cool about the kids and slice of life. Wouldn't mind a spin-off kind of thing with a kid, grandchild, student as protag and Li Nianfan in the role of the mysterious teacher or ancestor. I feel like he would play out such role just to be cool and kill time. Maybe from a bit more comedy/xianxia parody kind of angle.

People seem to complain about the low-key part a lot but honestly....it is very realistic. In a dangerous world, knowing I'm talented enough to reach the peak without leaving my cultivation abode....I'd only step outside once I could not possibly become any more powerful. Anything else would be stupid and suicidal when given the choice.

The story is not bad but the translation in the first 40 chapters is MTL on crack at best. Can anyone tell me if the tl quality improves later on?

There is nothing wrong with that. War simply is like this and that is the price that you have to pay. The idea of not killing children, women or civillians in general is nice when you are settling minor border disputes with countries, but it's foolish when you are fighting to eradicate ideologies, guerillas hiding in the population or try to fight a war where the opponent wants to exterminate and enslave all your people because they simply see you as lesser beings. The only way to see any success with these type of wars is to root out any trace of your opponent. Anything else will just cause you more trouble and cause more dead people in the end than if you did it right from the get go.

It is in accordance with the prior warning not to mess with Kana though. Besides...since they are "open" about it, everyone living in their estates is at least in the know and did not sever ties with the family. As for children....we already saw their character. When dealing with people like that root them out completely to prevent any schemes later on.

100k is actually not that strange. The 1st day at the Somme in WW1 also had about a 100k in casualties and the church is using nuke-like magic against troops that probably consist of mostly weak conscripts.

If we go by medieval standards on earth...people could marry once they hit puberty. For girls that is around 11-13 so it is safe to say she has yet to reach puberty. Considering her pretty extreme and thoughtout actions she is probably just a tad younger. I'd say 11 or 12.
