It's a context thing.... there's not really separate pronouns for boy/girl so you get gender swapping even in the most meticulously translated novels...

I can honestly say that I don't think I have ever met a burly gay guy....read about them, but never met in RL.... (wish I had cuz it might've let me go to the gym more often...the catcalls...sheesh...)

Either go with Julia or Julienne (and you can drop the ne for a more 'English) version... sometimes it really does come down to a single letter change...
