This is why they were surprised to learn that Thales is already a supra a 14yo, telling nothlanders did a good job (yeah, right) Besides, Thales is already strong. Remember the fight with the outer scion in the prision? He was fighting on par with a supra expert and a strong one at that (they can compete with seeds). Only Thales lackes the right foundetions since he's basically a self learner and they are covering this now, and he's tryng to understand his power instead of copying his enemies' powers.

We know that she has some kind of special (and secret) constitution from another early chapter (maybe the one where covendier sends off Thales) and that brought the speculation about her being a calamity. I'm not convinced myself of this (mystics should have achieved a peek in same sort of knowledge and she is way too young for that), but I also don't think she is only interested in magic per se.

Thales has grown a lot. Every person he met gave him a lession and he use them well, even if he still makes mistakes (a perfect person is the most boring thing in the world). His strenght grew a lot too. I agree sometimes I'd like some more slice of life scenes to brake the tension, but that is another thing altogheter imo.

Lord Crassus, yeah, even if that is strange. I got the impression from the first disaster sword (graudon?) that lord Crassus was the initiator of the schism 200 years ago, but maybe he only called the group " lord Crassus' sword" because he's the current leader.

I too think she's her daughter, but not Diana's. Diana died 6 years ago, and little rascal was sold a long time ago, so much that she could not remember her mother face 6 years ago (she said that when she conforted Thales at the temple).

Otherwise in history fortifications would never existed and in the Battle of the Thermopile the Spartans would have fought the Persian on open grounds. I understand your reasoning about shifting the battleground (surprise element against the enemy), it's very sound, but calling them stupid for choosing the fortified options against huge number is unfair. It is tiring reading how all the others are stupid and the only smart ones are the protagonist and those near him uff You built a really interesting world, but sometimes you kill it yourself by making human kind so obnoxious and pathetically unfit for survival. I'm asking myself how they didn't go excitint centuries ago.

This chapter was so edgy to give me the creeps. The story is so good that I keep closing my eyes to these details, but they are getting overbearingly hard to ignore. Why do you need to make 99% of the world population worthy to be put in a dump? Sometimes there is so much unrealistic spite versus mankind in this novel that it makes me go nuts xD All the meteorological bs stuff added only insult to injury, making the whole scene even more cringy. There are already worthy antagonists, much more interesting than this one-chapter-no-ones that serve the only purpose to show oh how mighty is Lith. I hope like the last that this will be the new last. P.s.: if someone doesn't think he's a psychopath he needs to seriously interrogate himself about his standards. The problem is that half of the new world population is like the MC, mad to the bone.

Yupe, it's absurd lol this thing of killing everywhere for every small thing is so far-fetched. A mage of that power that makes herself be disposed like that, rotfl. Some times the author lose the notion of what is realistic. Still, the novel is well written and interesting, so I can blind myself when reading these details.

1) he never learned fake spirit magic, he only saw it used by his teacher a month ago, he can't fake it. 2) the situation was not deadly, it's still a test, so if things go south they'll save him, why should he blow up his cover and risks to make himself a target? 3) his defensive magic is preemptive, he has always done the ambushing. He's surely lacking in this department, that's why he was admiring the knight. 4) the magic association releases to the public a small amount of spells, not every spell is available, more so specialistic ones, so he probably never encountered then before and is filling the hole at the accademy, where he can't praticate true magic, so his learning speed his severely hampered. 5) besides, he was ambushed, so he didn't have all that time to react of strategize, fake signs or think carefully. For us is a whole chapter, for them but a bunch of seconds. I think we usually forgot this and expect highly accurate plans. In an emergency situation we have to rely on guts feeling and imprinted routines, that's way emergency drill are so important. And this was a new situation for the MC. Many say that it was forced, I don't think so. The only strangeness I found is that he didn't activate his lifevision when he heard all those noises. From there it all makes sense one way or the other.

He's limited to chore magic for instacasting and wind chore magic is small, very small. That's true for all types of chore magic, they're basically cantrips. In the rings he had only a big single target spell and was not prepared for swarms. Casting a fireball requires time (well, with the limitations he gave himself), time that he didn't have, since it was an ambush.

If he never changes than it would be a dead character, without growth and without purpose. More so, without peace or happiness. I think this is his journey towards healing. He'll never became a saint, but growing is part of one journey, and reconciliation with his human side is part of it.

I agree with the professionalism part, it's counter-productive, but not with the second. History teaches us that from good blood often spurt bad offsprings. Dante Alighieri talks about it in more detail in the Purgatory, if you want to delve into the topic.
