It's not just about the length, it reads "cast a glance towards Bai Xiaochun". If you really saw a crocodile 30km long, you'd look like a bacteria compared to it and it wouldn't even notice you. Now I don't know if the author has eyes like microscopes and he's casting glances at random bacteria that catches his attention but, this is just a poorly constructed fantasy story Imo.
The most memorable thing Bai Xiaochun saw was during the daytime when he caught sight of a beast on the south bank of the river. It had four stumpy legs, and a head as huge as a mountain. Suddenly, a huge 30,000-meter golden crocodile burst out from within the Heavenspan River and gobbled up the first creature. Because some of us have read too many novels and we're very familiar with a large number of tropes and cliche's. The reason why this novel gets so much criticism is because it's filled with common tropes and it seems to be a very subpar novel so far. Honestly it feels like a rip-off of certain other novels.
