My Theory is when Beast Cultivation reach high enough level, they might transform into human (like most cultivation story) and in the process would be struck by Heavenly Lightning. Maybe that Heavenly Lightning and the one that struck him are the same, hence they might mistaken him as Demon Beast who have Transform into Human after being struck by Heavenly Lightning.
