Daoist basically said that anyone would dislike them for their betrayal but if they are sincere enough and show through their actions that they have changed they can be forgiven… There’s also a part where Daoist talks about forgiveness breaking the cycle of hatred but I don’t think that applies here since the mc isn’t really Cloud so he doesn’t hate them for their actions I’m paraphrasing but those are the main points
