the basic laws of physics we know today don't say anything about magic (for obvious reasons) and they don't necessarily contradict what he's seen so far. As the previous comment points out, as long as the spiritual power is gained& converted without loss/increase of total energy there's no contradiction with "pseudo science magic stuff" causing a change to said energy and "the basic laws of physics". Also if this stopped you from reading, you should read on, this novel takes it's physics very seriously (I'm rereading), if not you probably found that out already.

However, Lucien didn’t know how helpful his knowledge would be in this world. It was a world full of incredible creatures, magic, divine power and souls. Nevertheless, Lucien hadn’t met anything that varied from the basic laws of physics. And he did find the same materials, like silver, copper and iron.

    Asian sized fist*

Its eyes were bright and amber in color. It had a tiny head that was at most the size of a fist, a few golden whiskers around its mouth, and soft fur that made it really nice to touch.

So does that mean it's the ultimate tutorial giver for strange abilities? Or is the strange knowledge usually randomised?

However, before the knowledge was added, there must first be something strange about that person. Otherwise, there would not be any strange knowledge added to one's head out of nowhere.

Wyrm is an "older version" of dragons in general, not just an older word. Just like drakes, eastern dragons and western dragons aren't really the same, even though they translate.

Sound was devoured in this city by the enchantment, a magical force field. Aether slept here eternally. Not even the musicians that understood the heavens and earth could communicate with it--this was the Wyrmrest Enchantment.

This scene feels a bit lackluster compared to the last "look at me, I'm a strategic genius" one. It's really difficult to make a character that is massively smart, without making others just look like absolute idiots and the character of normal intelligence instead. It worked for the other scene because he used abilities that the other strategy maker didn't know of, but this time it's more of a "wait, you didn't realize that town was further ahead than the rest?". Characters either have the authors intelligence as their limit or reverse foresight where the character is made to look smart by predicting something and the author making it happen. The better tricks involve additional knowledge like the previous showcase or stuff like using time difference to show intelligence. So the character is still bound by the limits of the author, but can do the authors detailed planning of hours in "the blink of an eye"/.... Or it manifesting in the special ability type where the character has so much unused brainpower they can compute some stuff (example: Sherlock series' weakness finding through deduction&the fight prediction/simulation)

Also impossible is a powerful word, but also very easy to over-/miss-use. Most of the time a detailed(within reason, flow is important too after all) explantation/comparison will be more useful to help the readers understanding and can even be a good place to slip in some exposition/worldbuilding. F.e. here: "The skills/stats of the boss are so strong that even if the player had a perfect 0ms reaction time (here you could place some worldbuilding, I imagine that the nerve signal traveling from the brain to the machine would take a different amount of time than to the body parts the signal was intended for. Both slower or faster than normal are possible in reality, but in this case faster or for some reason the same are the only options so the game doesn't feel like **** imo) they still couldn't beat it because (insert reason, here are some examples: not enough dmg/still can't dodge it's aoe/...)" While slightly clunky since I just took the first example that came to mind, it conveys the "it's impossible for a player to beat" but with a less vague reason (not "the boss is too op", but "the boss is too op because...") and gives the opportunity for worldbuilding that doesn't feel forced (tho there's obviously no need to add worldbuilding to every explanation, just saying this is a nicer way to do it than some authors this-character-explains-something-everybody-present-should-already-know-for-no-reason-and-none-of-the-listeners-think-it's-weird)

I think the main problem with understanding the level thing is your grammar/word choice. (no offense intended) I'm still not entirely sure I understood it correctly, and there's also some questions that come from this explanation. Is it an enforced solo dungeon? If not, would the monsters be lvl120 if 3 lvl40 players went in? Why can the initial lvl40 player(s) not defeat monsters/bosses at their own lvl? I can somewhat understand that afterward there's some deep learning type of evolution of the AI (and it's skills if I understood correctly) that make it gradually op, but what stops the first? Or the following for a little while, if their playstyle is different enough that the adapting doesn't help against them, until it's completely broken op? Are you trying to say that it has no skills, all the stuff it did was basically basic attacks, that's why he could defeat it despite being on the same lvl? Or is the lvl measured when going in, so the boss was still lvl1 while he had already leveled up (which wouldn't happen with lvl40 players)?
