just keep going and chalk that last fight up to him being nervous in his first real fight against a rated XXX+ magic creature. I will turn a blind eye on the excuse that he has only ever battled other wizards and creatures below XXX rating or that he only has theoretical experience but no battle experience.

Weakening the magic is fine but most battles require Enginuity such as setting traps and using the environment. Since in HP anyone wizard can lose a magic duel from a single spell and most magic creatures can tank a few spells, so it's all about strategy (watch Dumbledor and Voldemort's battle in the Ministry of Magic). As for the unforgivable they dont corrupt but it requires negative emotions for them to fully use their affects. They seem corruptible because the person has to constantly call apon their negative thoughts and emotions, eventually the it becomes a habit using their negative emotions which also gives them a negative outlook/personality.
So, I was reading the comments for the recent chapter and people were roasting the mc for being weak lmao. I kinda had to agree I wanted the battle to be close with the mc repelling the monster by being clever but getting injured in the process(don't forget the magic in this verse is not as strong as the potterverse. which I think makes sense and makes it so mc isn't a godlike being. I also I didn't use the unforgivables cause I was pretty sure they corrupt your soul or something like that whenever you use them. correct me if I'm wrong on this point) But I kinda failed to do that and made the mc look super weak and not really clever at all. I also read a review saying I'm following the show too much which looking at the upcoming chapters its kinda true. so I was wondering if I should delete just the last chapter and rewrite it or delete that last chapter and rewrite the upcoming chapters or just keep it moving. Someone failed both the transfiguration and DADA classes because he had no defense not even a shield charm. I know the creature's skin was resistant to magic but so were a lot of magic creatures. He could have bound the beast with a tree trunk, or buried it neck deep in the dirt. Anything to prove that he learned something. At least we know that his goal was not to become an Auror, because that was pitiful.

All this build-up, somebody needs to die. Because Mt Myōboku is too involved in the human world and their motives unknown. Think about it, Gamamaru told the Sage of Six paths about the truth of the Kaguya's Ritual. Then his later constant interference such as having Jiraya search for a savior to the ninja world. The other 2 Sages give no f**ks
