gonna point out beta players should probably flag this type of problem rather than take advantage of it but it's only a small plot hole anyway.

I'm pretty sure everyone would take advantage of the situation even if in different ways - plagiarizing cultivation techniques or using them themselves for example - no matter what you do the future stuff will leak somehow .
Normal people would definitely be shocked or even find it difficult to accept such a situation. They would feel that they were insignificant and could not shoulder such a heavy responsibility.
