I kinda liked the approach with "cringiness". I mean, everyone wants to be regonized, if it is throw appearance (Chali and her skincare products - want to look beautiful for her partner) or achievments in Alex case. Let him have his embarrasing moments where people think he is weird. After all he is in a new place with new set a rules and culture? Hothead and eager in the beginning and more cold and calculated later on, is that the approach you want?
