In the middle of the Arena, a large slab of stone was placed in a vertical position.
This stone slab isn't an ordinary one, for sure. It is atleast 4 to 5 meters big with several runes carved on it.
"I heard that the outside world uses the awakening scrolls for convenience but this awakening stone of our clan has a special property. It enhances your existing Arcana while you are trying for the second awakening."
"I see… This is why there are a lot of 12-year-olds trying to participate this time," Azzy commented, hearing out Barbara's explanation.
"Yup." She nodded with a smile, "and you know, in the rarest cases, someone receives an additional soul skill. The last one to receive it was Lady Night. It happened 22 years ago."
"Eh?" Azzy widened his eyes in surprise, "Master is only 34 years old?"
"Hmm? You don't about it?" She looked at him as if he was that clueless.
Azzy thought his master is indeed awesome but didn't know she was this incredible. A 34-year-old who is a seven-star Arcana Master? She's indeed a daughter of heaven.
He replied, "I didn't pay much attention."
"She's my role model you know… There was one time…" Upon mentioning Avia, Barbara started to show her fanatic side…
"Young Miss Crescent, Young Master Garcia," At that time someone called these twelve-year-olds, making Azzy sigh in relief as he no longer wishes to stick with this cousin of his. Even her way of talking is a bit similar to Evelyn.
The only difference is that Evelyn can drag people into random dreams with her words while this cousin has the power of persuasion in her mouth. Whenever she talks, Azzy wasn't able to resist answering her questions or stopping the conversation.
"Everything is ready. Please…" A staff told them to join the line.
Both of them stood up from their seats and joined a line that's full of kids.
Azzy didn't know what kind of reputation Barbara has but no one dared to talk to either of them when he was with her. So, he thought, even though it's a pain, it's better to stick with her.
The adults stayed back in the waiting hall; meanwhile, Truman Ash, one of the Elders of the Death clan as well as the Master of Pavilion leads the kids to the Arena.
As Azzy stepped inside, he saw it was packed with an audience numbered atleast a thousand.
That's when he thought the clan is a lot bigger than he imagined. This pocket world is as big as a Province for a reason.
Unlike the usual atmosphere, the arena was filled with silence and no cheers escaped from anyone, trying to behave themselves.
"Wow, all the clan leaders gathered here…" "Is he the Clan head in the middle? It's my first time seeing him…" "I heard that all of them are peak rank-8 and our clan head is just a step away from becoming rank-10." "Yeah, I heard that rank-10 masters can regain their youth and live for another hundred thousand years?" "Well, in history, only the founders of hidden clans reached such rank before ascending to the celestial world of heaven."
All sorts of murmurings rang in Azzy's ears. Maybe, it's because he's a 3-star, his hearing improved quite a lot. The only problem was that he can't control it, yet.
Then, his eyes lay on the stone slab in the middle of a 500 sq.meter big platform.
"That is the awakening stone I was talking about," Barbara chirped from the side.
As everyone arrived, Elder Truman said, "eight-year-olds, the first-timers, gather on the right. Twelve-year-olds on the left."
Barbara and Azzy moved to the left along with others.
Elder Truman then bowed to the feeble looking old man, who sat at a certain section along with other clan leaders and elders. Avia and Evelyn also joined them.
The clan head nodded.
Elder Truman then addressed the audience, "everyone, welcome to our clan awakening ceremony. As you all know, first, our new generation will be awakening their soul cards through this wonderful relic left by our founder, Azrael Garcia.
Then, the second awakening ceremony will begin, where our talented young Arcana Masters will get the opportunity to increase their potential.
Ordinary people will become talented. Talented will become genius, the Genius will become Monsters, and the monsters will become the son or the daughter of heaven.
As for the second part, we have made a few changes, this time." Pointing at the section where Azzy and others stood, he continued, "These young Arcana Masters will not spar against each other but display their powers, sparring against with their senior disciples from all the Pavilions.
Of course, their seniors will hold back their strength and use the power equivalent to the candidate. Let's give a round of applause for this young generation who will become the future pillars of our clan."
After everyone clapped for a few seconds, he looked at the clan head to give permission.
Qridus Garcia then spoke in a whisper, "begin." Even though it's a whisper, it seemed loud and clear to everyone.
Elder Truman of the Ash clan then addressed the eight-year-olds to go towards the stone slab and place their palms on it.
One by one, they started to walk to the relic and did as they were told after bowing to the clan head and the clan leaders and Elders.
Azzy saw, as soon as their palms touched the relic, the runes that carved on it, started to glow for a few seconds while their soul cards awakened appeared before everyone.
The first time, when one's Arcana is awakened, it usually appears beside its Master.
He felt strange that his Arcana never appeared that way. Only a set of weapons appeared in his hands.
"Aleister Blood greets the Clan Head." A cute looking boy with messy hair and large eyes with bright red pupils bowed to others before placing his palms on the awakening stone.
Usually, the number of glowing runes indicates one potential. The higher the number, the greater the potential.
But, as soon as his palms touched the relic, more than 90 runes of 108 runes lit up, shocking the audience.
A soul card formed before the boy while a thick aura made of blood surrounded the eight-year-old. 
The Crescent clan leader turned his head aside and said with a smile, "Congratulations, Francis. Your clan produced a genius with great potential. We haven't seen a situation like this for ten years."
The Blood clan leader, Francis Blood responded with a depressed tone, "but it's only 95. Another 5, it would have been great." 
Even though he appeared a little bit disappointed, these 8-star Arcana Masters can feel even the minute changes that are happening in their body. The clan leader was indeed pleased with the result.
"This boy has the potential to become the next clan leader, Francis." The clan head commented, staring at the boy.
"You are forgetting about Remia, Qridus." Francis reminded him of his daughter. 
Being in the same generation, he's also one of the people who are closest to the Clan head, having the privilege to call him by his first name.
"That's right. I almost forgot about her. It's already been a thousand years. She had made a breakthrough to rank-8, right? Why is that irresponsible brat still playing out there?" Qridus then remembered this girl, who was always out there, trying to explore the mysterious world of Arcana.
He immediately scolded her who is at least 7000 years old but doesn't know how to act her age.
Francis' expression turned sour.

I woke up in a slight panic, wondering about today. It was the annually dreadful reaping day and the entire nation of Panem was in suspense for today, the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games. A Quarter Quell with a twist from the regular games.
For the 25th Hunger Games, Districts had to vote for who went in the games, I would hate being betrayed by my own neighbors and schoolmates.
I remember yesterday evening when the young, but still ugly, President Cornelius Snow, announced the games, I can still hear it "...and this year in the honor of the 50th hunger games there will be twice the amount of tributes."
48 tributes in the games, that's truly insane.
People already have enough problems with the regular 24. Why 48? Each year the entire nation is forced to watch these games and see 23 teenagers die each time. Now this time 47.
Each quarter quell is chosen from a box, full of the designated twists to the games that were made after the Dark Days, a month before the games began, and the rebels' passions were extinguished.
If only I knew the man who wrote them... I would punch him unconscious, what an idiot.
I believe it's morally wrong but our beloved Dictator Snow with his fat lips makes the decisions. Each year there are stupid tributes and every once in a while, smart ones, but they always get brutally slaughtered.
If only Panem wasn't what it is today.
I remember last years games, from District 12 there was a twelve year old girl and a fourteen year old boy, I remember his name was Thicket. She was killed in the bloodbath by a career and got 20th place. He made it to the final 12 and died of dehydration for 11th place, which is exceptionally well for a poorer district, let alone the poorest.
The arena was designed to mimic a wheat field, with hardly any water to be found. The games only lasted a week and the victor was a District 9 girl, raised in an agricultural district. She and the District 9 boy starved it out until he perished and she won the 49th hunger games. Never does a non-career win except if they didn't have a arena that they weren't ready for.
These people train for their whole lives anyway.
Being from the Seam, my family and I have hardly had a bearable life. I had my younger brother to take care of, who is only 12 years old. I had entered my name in the reaping 20 times this year, 5 for myself and the other 15 for 7 years of tesserae for my mother and brother, Spruce.
It's my 5th year in the reaping.
Haymitch, that's my name, Haymitch Abernathy. I'm 16 and from District 12, the poorest district of them all. I hate living here.
The only way I have food is by working at the butchers shop on Main Street. They barely pay me anything, not that I can blame them, no one here has anything. I have to scavenge to feed my family, my brother and my mentally challenged mother.
Ever since my father got taken to the Capitol for punishment to be an Avox about 10 years ago my mom went mad. It's hard taking care of them.
It's my brothers first year in the reaping this year. He's 12 years old. He still has jitters about getting picked.
I stepped out of my bed to find my boots, they were still full of coal dust from the trail to the hob I followed. I swear, there is no one in this entire district who will trade stuff with me. I don't know why though.
My mother says it's because I look like a merchants kid. I'm not though, I do work in the butchers shop but I'm not a merchant kid. I wish I were, all those kids not having to worry about getting food for there family's. But also they can be total idiots, like most the people in this country. Anyway, I don't think I look like one though, I'm mean I am tall, 6' to be exact I have broad shoulders too.
People say I'm a Seam kid too. With the gray seam eyes and dark curly hair.
I went to go find my brother. He was probably nervous about the reaping. It was his first year in it, I don't know why he was so nervous, he has his name in the reaping once just once. Then there's me with my 20 entries in it. I was nervous for my first reaping too. But I had to take tessera, each tessera is a years supply of grain and oil. they give you a measly amount too. It's hardly enough to get by.
I walked outside. I found that the ground frosted overnight. I kicked the grass.
"Yep, it's frozen," I said.
I walked around some more. My stomach grumbled, as usual. Always I'm starving.
I went by a nearby creek. My brother was sitting on the edge of the bank. I sat next to him.
"Nervous, huh?" I asked Spruce.
"Can you notice?" he said.
"Yup," I told him.
"I just don't want neither of us to get called,"he told me. "We don't have a chance of surviving, us district 12 people." Typically I'd agree with his statement, but for some reason that comment began to make my blood boil.
"Woah, why would you say that?" I asked angrily. "I bet that someone could win." I started to get even madder.
"Well only one person in our district has won in the past 49 years," he said. "So our chances aren't too big."
"I don't care about our chances," I said. " I bet that someone from here could win!" I yelled. Spruce was getting on my nerves as usual. He looked up at me like I was lying to him.
"You have nothing to worry about though your names in the reaping one time and I have my name in it twenty times, so I should be worrying," I said with frustration.
"Fine I'm just saying-" I cut him off.
"I'm going to the square... and honestly I hope your name gets picked!" I stormed off, only to regret what I said moments later. Unfortunately my stubbornness made it difficult for me to apologize so I resulted to ignoring the situation
I went running towards the square, a temporary stage set up for the games. My mother stopped me though and made me go inside my family's 2 room house.
"Haymitch, at least try to look decent at the reaping," she told me and pulled out a white button up shirt with coal stains on it, brown pants, and boots. I put them on.
"More coal," I whispered with angst. " it's always coal every where you look."
I've never understood why people get excited for the reaping, They force kids to their deaths. Also it's getting old, 23 go in 1 comes out. For the past 49 years people have dealt with it.
As I internally continued my internal tirade I heard the front door slam shut, that means Spruce was probably home.
"Spruce, I layed out some nice clothes on your bed," I heard my mother say.
"Thanks mom, I'll put them on," he tried to say politely but there was anger in his voice.
I stepped out of my room and looked out my front door. Peacekeepers were walking down the beaten trail gathering everyone for the reaping. It was quite entertaining seeing them slip on the frozen ground.
Spruce stepped out of the house. he looked at me like I needed to apologize to him.
"Look Spruce I'm sorry okay," I decided to swallow my pride, he looked up at me. "Sometimes I can just get a little upset about how all our tributes lose every single game."
"It's fine," he said. He's hated the reaping ever since he was born. Last year he became terrified from it, knowing that next year he would be in the bowl of names.
Spruce starting watching the games at a very young age, 3. That's when my mother started going insane. It was a year after my father was taken away from the Capitol.
I started watching the games when I was 7, the year after my father was taken away.
Ever since the year I turned 12, Spruce has been terrified for me to go into the games. Last year he about started a mental breakdown right before the reaping. It was hard on Spruce at the time, we all tell him to just move on though.
But I got to know how it would feel, having someone you cared about maybe getting picked to be in the slaughter house, known as the arena. If my girlfriend, Oakley, got reaped and killed in the games I would be a wreck just like my mother.
I can only think of Oakley right now, she is from the Seam too. With her beautiful gray eyes and long thick brown hair, she's a dream to me. I hope I could see her at the reaping.
I forgot Spruce was next to me as we sat in silence. I looked over at him.
My mother came out if the house. She put her arms around us.
"Good luck boys, I love you two," she said. We gave her a hug. Then we were off to the reaping.
Spruce and I finally headed for the square. I had to admit I was kind of nervous for the reaping too. We could clearly see that we were late, almost everyone was sitting down already. I looked back and saw my mother sitting down in the back. I went up to the table where the peacekeepers prick your finger for blood. The lines were shortened. I approached the peacekeeper.
"Finger please," he said. I reached my hand out and it got pricked and stamped on a paper.
I read the scanner, it was registering my information,
ABERNATHY , HAYMITCH. 16/YO
It read.
"You may go now," the peacekeeper instructed me to do.
I went over to Spruce before he had to go to the 12 year old section.
"Hey, good luck," I paused. "And I hope that you don't get picked," I told him.
"You too," he said. I went over to the 16 year olds and watched Spruce take his seat.
The District 12 escort, Gigi Faux, went up to the microphone. This year she sported bright blue hair, a change from last years neon green.
"Happy Hunger Games!" She said with excitement, but we all were very aware of her disgust towards our less than lavish lifestyle. "And may the odds be ever in your favor!"
I tried to look for Oakley in the female 16 section. When I found her she was looking at me smiling. I smiled back at her. She looked up at the stage to watch Gigi. I looked up at the stage too.
Up on the stage sits the Mayor of District 12, Mayor Honly, and the districts only victor, Bay Johnson.
I remember hearing the story of him. Bay won the 37th hunger games at age 17 when I was just 3 years old. The arena that year was an underground cave. His father had worked in the mines so he knew how to survive. He came out with a broken spine though. His last opponent, a boy from District 2, snapped it. Bay won by shoving a spear into the boys heart. It was the only kill he made the entire games. He had to go through major surgery though. He's 30 years old but has to barely walk with a cane.
Gigi reached into the bowl of names.
"Ladies first," she said as she pulled out the first of four names.
"Zedoary Withers" she said. A small girl who couldn't be taller than 5 feet stood up and went on stage. She looked like she was from the Seam. She was very thin, looked like she hadn't eaten in weeks. The poor girl was probably slowly starving to death.
A guy in the row behind me started sniffling. I looked at him. They looked like siblings. Must've been his sister up there. She waves shyly at the crowd She looks like she knows that she's good as dead in a week. You can tell be the look in her eyes. Gigi claps as she walks up by her.
"Okay now for our other lucky lady." Gigi reaches into the bowl. I was praying that I wasn't going to be Oakley. Gigi pulled out the slip of paper. "Maysilee Donner."
I look over to the girl. She's about my age. I'm positive I've seen her at school before. She had blond hair and blue eyes. Two other girls were hanging onto her. They were all merchant kids apparent from their blond hair. One of the girls looked exactly like her as if she were her twin. She was hugging her around her waste crying. Don't go I saw her mouth to her. Maysilee was telling her to let go. She released and Maysilee walked to the stage. I've seen Maysilee outside the peacekeepers building before when I was working at the butchers. I've never seen her at the Hob though. She was a merchants kid, that's for sure.
Maysilee walked up to the stage. I looked at Oakley, thankful that she didn't get picked this year.
"Now for the boys," says Gigi. She goes to the other bowl and reaches for a name. I could hardly see Spruce shaking nervously.
"Please don't be Spruce," I whispered.
The first name is pulled out of the bowl.
"Juniper Gunthery," she said. A boy from the 17 year olds stood up, he was very tall and looked muscular with blonde hair and blue eyes. He approached the stage, not nervous at all. Gigi looked pleased at him. Bay looked at him too. I could tell that he was popular, when he walked on stage girls swooned. He was a pretty boy, not a Seam kid at all. He winked towards the ladies section. How could someone be happy about being reaped into the games?
"And last but not least," Gigi said and reached into the bowl of names. I was praying for it to not be Spruce.
"And it is-" she said as she opened the small white envelope.
"Please don't be Spruce"
It wasn't Spruce. It was Haymitch Abernathy.

It's the 50th Hunger Games, a Quarter Quell. In honor of the games there will be twice the amount of tributes in the arena. This means twice the amount of deaths. How will District 12 tribute, Haymitch Abernathy survive the brutal games? Will the odds be in his favor?

By the time Wu Niu had arrived at the Wu family estate, the sun was directly above his head. Mid-day had come in its full glory, and the soul tests were soon to begin. The clouds had dispersed, leaving the sky empty. The morning humidity had also dispersed, and now it was rather arid and dry.
Approaching one of the side doors that led to the courtyard, Wu Niu's father appeared before him to usher him inside. He looked slightly annoyed at Wu Niu's, apparently late arrival.
Looking down toward Wu Niu, he spoke disconcertedly.
"Where have you been?"
Wu Niu opened his mouth to respond but was cut off before he could speak.
"The tests are about to start. Hurry to the courtyard. I'll be there soon. I have to finish some business first."
Closing his mouth, Wu Niu gave his father a gloomy nod and then hurried along.
Outside in the courtyard sat the family patriarch upon a polished wooden throne. He wore white robes, which were standard colored attire for the Wu Family residents. He was also quite handsome, which is an effect of body tempering. His grayed hair managed to retain some of its youthfulness. It was no doubt due to the impact that qi has on age. He was a practitioner retiree with "Silver" realm qi.
Essentially the "Silver" qi realm is three qi realm breakthroughs above the "Earthly" qi realm. "Earthly" qi realm is the realm in which all non-demon beings are born having.
Each realm of qi comes with significantly more potent qi than the last realm. Although this is the case, qi realms aren't the end all be all factor in determining the strength of one's qi. For example, if person A is on the verge of a breakthrough into the next realm, and person B, who just broke into that same realm, were to fight, then person A would win. Regardless of whether they are in the same qi realm or not, the person further into their cultivation will hold the power advantage. However, qi realms are still very important because whereas two people in the same realm have a small difference in power, two people of different realms have a substantial gap in power.
As far as Wu Niu was concerned, "Silver" realm qi was plenty strong.
The patriarch was the only "Silver" realm within the entire Wu Family. Everybody else was either "Earthly, Copper or Bronze" qi realm.
-His qi is so oppressive. I'm not even "Purity" body tempering stage, and yet I can still feel it.
In front of him was a table. Upon it were bottles of body tempering pills lined up in an orderly fashion. A dark, slightly transparent black orb sat on a pedestal in front of the patriarch. It was a soul gauge.
A soul gauge is an orb that, upon being touched, displays a projection of the soul of the person who touched it. The size of which can then be categorized into different tiers of strength.
Though there are no souls that are precisely the same size, putting them into different tiers is sufficient enough to measure the general relative strength of someone's souls.
Stepping through the door into the courtyard, Wu Niu observed as a gathering crowd of families and servants came to witness the yearly event. Every year, the children that came of age would have their soul strength tested and would be given a certain portion of the pills accordingly.
The 12-year-olds who received the pill would have to ingest them in conservative doses as to preserve them over the next three years. At which point, they would be able to take the martial trials for the Silver Mountain martial arts sect.
Very few Wu family children have ever succeeded in passing the Silver Mountain sect's trials (One of them being the patriarch).
Wu Niu had never been to one of these events as his father said "it was best for a boy to not see the worst of humanity" From what Wu Niu heard his friends say, the kids that come back having failed the trials are often viciously shunned and mocked for many months, and those who fail the soul test are shunned for life.
Wu Niu watched as the other 12-year-olds approached the soul gauge one by one and individually tested their soul strength.
The patriarch told every kid who had lower than a 3rd tier soul that they were unfit for martial arts and asked them to give up on their endeavors. His harsh words irked Wu Niu, but he couldn't rightly speak out against him. The patriarch was the patriarch, after all.
Eventually, a boy by the name of Wu Chao went up to be tested. Wu Chao was a good-hearted and innocent boy and was great friends to Wu Niu for most of their lives.
Resting his hand upon the soul gauge, Wu Chao's joyous plastered face turned to one of dismay. His soul strength wasn't even 1st tier.
The patriarch rolled his eyes and told Wu Chao to step away and leave the courtyard. His soul strength visibly repulsed many of the people in the crowd.
"That boy's father should be disgusted, for birthing such worthless trash."
"I'm ashamed to even be in the same family as him."
Wu Chao's lip began quivering as he tried to hold back his tears.
At seeing Wu Chao's distraught, Wu Niu remembered back to the times when they would go out into woods to play make-believe as practitioners. They both had the dream of becoming great practitioners one day.
Wu Chao's hopes and dreams most likely shattered at that moment, and Wu Niu was forced to do nothing but stand by and watch as the mob viciously mocked and ridiculed him.
Running for the gate, Wu Chao turned the corner, escaping from the derisive mob hurling insults.
Wu Niu wanted to chase after him and reassure him he was still a worthwhile person, but couldn't, because he still hadn't been tested yet.
Under his breath, Wu Niu whispered, "Tch. These people are despicable."

Wu Niu was born with a weak split soul and the inability to cultivate. Despite this, he works tirelessly to become as strong as he possibly can. This isn't a story about someone who is talented, lucky or anything of the sort. It is the story of a boy who constantly beats the odds stacked against him through sheer resolve and hard work.

Damien finds himself standing in-with the other 16 year olds of the village ,a bishop comes around once a year to do appraisals of the magic power of each child who is of age ,that age being 16 . at precisely 12 they call for Damien ,he walks into the church and puts his hand on the hand of the bishop the bishop closes his eyes and a green light flashes around Damien as well as a red light filled by a blue and a cyan light  after these 4 lights a number appears on his hand "67...above average ,but not to uncommon . affinities with wind, fire water and something else I'm not sure what but I don't care ,begone with you "the bishop says as he gives the boy a slip of paper with all of the information he just said .
Damien walks away unsure of what he feels for these results , disregarding what just happened he makes his way to the blacksmiths shop ,before he knows it he's at the door of Arden's store .He opens the door quite normally "hey Arden,you here?" he calls out . after a minute or so an old bearded man , probably about 45 comes from a back room ,the man is fairly muscular but that's common for a blacksmith "hey kid what can I do fo- oh it's you good to see you"

            "Modern! Hey, Modern!"

            Modern turned as Sat AM and AoStH ran up to him. Sat AM was holding something in his hand- a small leather-bound book.

            "What's this?" AoStH asked, pointing to it.

            "Oh, I'd forgotten about that," Modern said, "that's the journal I had when I met Sonic and Knuckles."

            "Really?" both were interested.

            Then Sat AM frowned.

            "Neither of us can read it," he said.

            "You wouldn't be able to," Modern said, "it's written in El Kaban fo Kitsune."

            "Huh?" AoStH asked.

            "'The Script of Kitsune.' It has different letters than what most people write with," Modern explained, "the script they use is El Kaban fo Ningen."

            "Oh, that's why," AoStH exclaimed, "I was worried I'd forgotten how to read!"

            "No, don't worry," Modern smiled, only half listening as he thumbed through the pages of the journal.

            "Well, what does it say?" Sat AM asked.

            "I think you should learn how to read it before you find out," Modern said.

            "You're going to teach us?" AoStH asked excitedly.

            "Sure," Modern said, shrugging.

            They couldn't be more excited.

            "Badnik incoming!"

            The call came in the afternoon, and all 12 foxes went to the village perimeter.

            The Eggmans (and Robotniks, but we just call them Eggmans too) were stepping up their game. Not only were there more badniks than before, but BurnBot and Metal Knuckles were here; BOTH Metal Knuckles.

            "We need a plan," X said.

            All looked to Modern. If he noticed, he didn't make it known.

            "Classic, Sat AM, AoStH, and Lego: get all the small badniks," Modern directed, "Boom, X, Archie, Movie: You're with me on BurnBot and the Metal Knuckles."

            "And me?" Zooey asked, scared but wanting to help.

            "Help where needed," Modern instructed.

            Zooey nodded, and braced themselves for the storm.

AoStH Universe

            The battle was being shown through the Miles Electric. Both 6-year-olds winced. This is why they hadn't shared their discovery with the others.

            Not only would the Sonics be glued to the screen, but watching their Tails fighting and not being able to help would drive them insane. It was best to leave them unknowing of this way to see what was going on, of any way. 

            The Chao not holding the Miles Electric ducked its head as X Tails barely dodged a blast from FireBot. It was then the more soft-spoken of the two 6-year-olds spoke.

            "Poor Tails," she said softly.

            "He's with the others, though," the other said, "at least he's not alone."

            "There's so many," the first said sadly, "all of them were stolen from their Sonics, their homes and their universes!"

            The first looked at the second.

            "Except yours," she pointed out.

            "He thinks I'm a statue," the second replied sadly, "and Sonic, and Knuckles, and Amy, and Shadow…"

            "...And Rouge, and Vector, and Espio, and Charmy…" the first continued.

            "...All of us," the first finished.

            "Chao, chao!" the first's Chao agreed.

            They all fell silent and watched as the last robot was defeated.

            Modern Eggman is dead, but is not out. Soon after his death, Modern Orbot initiates the doctor's revenge plan to distroy Sonic; but not physically this time- mentally.
           Even those who have no idea aren't safe. In the Boom Universe, what looked to be a routine battle turned seemingly deadly.
           All the Tails from the different universes are herded and contained in the Modern Universe, and the Moderns are kicked out. The Tails will be killed, and they can't do a thing.
            However, the Moderns spread the word to the frantic Sonics and join forces to fight back. The Tails join into one Skulk, and fight to break free.
            But will the heroes claim the final victory?

In my world about 50 years ago people began to awaken superpowers, abilities, or quirks. Whatever you want to call them. As you would expect the world went into a new era of superhero and supervillain. This also led to contact with other planets and galaxies, for the first time, who seemed to have a similar event happen to them at the same time, which meant more friends and enemies. The act of awakening happened to everyone at the age of 12, 100% of the population, with no exceptions. Due to this sudden change in daily life, the Shōri no akademī (Academy of victory) was created by an unknown Japanese man who had the ability of Architect, the power to create any object in your head as long as you had the materials. This, of course, was built in space.

This is where my story begins the year 2021, the year I turned 12.

"Hey, hun " inquisitively said my mom, "Do you hope your power can save the universe? " continued my mom. "No, I only want enough money to live a stable, carefree life,'' I replied quickly. "Why do you not have ideas of grandeur and only ideas of money, it will be a waste if you're given great power and only use it for the sake of your own gain! " Angrily replied my mom. This is what I always heard from my family but I didn't care, money made the world go round. or now the universe I guess. "Are you excited to awaken tomorrow? " Questioned my mom. "No" I replied as all hoped for was a good stable ability like elemental manipulation or super strength as they could make me the most money.  "Well after the holidays you will attend Ronder middle school to learn all there is to know about how to properly use your ability and also the usual subjects such as English, Maths, and Science, etc... " Stated my mom, "However remember if you are not in the top 50% of grades at the end of each year you will be expelled from school " Sternly said, my mother. "Yes, mother " I replied.

Everyone wanted to be a hero now due to their ideals of saving Earth and many other worlds. To do this they had to attend Shōri no Akademī, the best high school on Earth but to get in you had to rank in the top 100 of your continent in a tournament of all 14-year-olds. Countries with the largest populations China, India, and the USA had their own separate tournaments in their own country where the top 50 got into Shōri no akademī. 

When I woke up on my 12th birthday I hate to admit I was excited at the prospect of getting an ability, however, my actual birth wasn't until 1:32 pm and it was only 10:00 am so I had to wait.

1:30 pm 
Two more minutes and my dream of money would either be crushed or realized. I prayed silently to all the gods I knew to bless me with good fortune.

"Go on then what is it? " Excitedly asked my mom. 
"What the hell sort of bullshit is this, my ability is -. " 
"How dare you swear under my roof! " Yelled my mom.

It was time to attend the opening ceremony at Ronder middle where the student with the best grades on the entrance test (I myself managed to pass just barely), would give a speech. It was a girl, she was pretty, but I didn't care much for it as liking someone would not bring me money. 
"I hope that everyone in our school strives to be the best in everything they do, pushes past their limits, and has a good time! "
"woo!" Screamed the majority of the student body "She's smart, nice and pretty"
I thought to myself, this will be a long two years.



On the other hand, not every youngster was huddling in a cavern creche with Ruth.
There was a difference, a huge difference, between the children who grew up in the Wildlands and the refugees who arrived from the Midlands.
For example, 6-8 year-old ordinary, refugee ex-Midlander children were barely brave enough to do household-chore type Adventurer Guild missions after school for some 'pocket money'. 9-10 year olds might take missions on the farms, or help paint someone's wall or any number of deliveries and message bearing. Even the 11-12 year olds seldom ventured far from town, only a rare few ex-refugees going out to the outlying villages, and even then mainly sticking to the roads. Only teenagers would venture off-road and take on 'real' adventures.
But the children who grew up at Fort Troas or those of the Sea People like Alani who migrated here long ago were not like that. These were more adventurous sorts who ran around the forests armed and armored on a daily basis. They hunted Wilds and natural treasures, mapped out the unknown, guarded their friends and Comrades with their lives, and generally earned enough to live on their own without parental support.
Not to mention the likes of Mindy, George, and Tim, any of whom had a net worth to match entire towns.
At this hour, about a dozen ten year-olds were following Damien and Lisa in the creche, obediently staying safe and doing their homework in the reflected firelight of the cavern. Those were ex-refugee children.
Meanwhile, a certain other ten year-old was riding the Tier 8 Deep Emperor across the seas between continents, accompanied by a fleet of the Order of Light all loaded with desperate new refugees from the Midlands. On Reef's back were more people than she bothered to count, all of them clinging tightly to the magical island that had come out of nowhere and somehow was able to move as fast as the surrounding ships.
A yell sounded from one such ship. "Are we taking them all the way to Fal'Herim?"
Alani called back. "We'll offload at the islands first, and go back for more. We have to get as many of them out of there as possible! The Midlands Wilds are already on the rampage, and it's chaos back there!"
"Understood!" Even if the Wilds didn't kill them, chances were exceedingly high that desperate humans would.
They would save as many as they could, but the islands could only hold so many, and the ships and Reef were likewise limited. Going back and forth, once the islands were filled up, they would have no choice but to land at Fal'Herim, and that would mean even longer trips and more time taken. How much time did they have? How long before all semblance of order fell apart and blood soaked the Midlands? It was going to come down to a race, and every life saved in their dwindling time was a win in her book.

Meanwhile, Tim was in the desert fighting with a Great Dragon.
Yes, of course it was Khar'al-dras, the very Dragon who provided him with power. Right now they were in what could be described as a sibling quarrel, two brothers arguing and physically fighting over the fate of a certain desert city.
Simply put, Khar'al-dras wanted to destroy it. The city was no longer what it once was and had little or no appeal to him any longer.
Tim, on the other hand, had a lot at stake in that city and very much wanted to leave it unharmed.
The argument got heated and eventually they went head to head. Huge shockwaves churned entire sandstorms in the desert. The ground shook and buildings collapsed. Even if he didn't do it directly, Khar'al-dras managed to destroy more than half the city just by fighting Tim.
But Tim wasn't about to give up on all his assets in the city. So they fought, and all the people of Fal'Herim could do was to duck for cover and run for shelter.

Darian, on the other hand, was preparing to face the Wind Emperor. He cleared out most of the tunnels and went to find George in the underground command post. "Any updates on the Beast Tide?"
"Their main forces are two hours away, but word has it the Wind Emperor is in the vanguard." George told him, marking out spots on his map. "They won't have any early waves or scouting parties arriving before that. The Wind Emperor is leading the charge from the front. He will be the very first Wild attacking Kara-Goth. You have time to rest up."
"Two hours." Darian nodded. "I'm going to get something to eat."

In those two hours, Sior'khan-dras amended the Beacon's Trade signal to warn incoming ships about abnormal weather conditions, in case someone tried to land and ran straight into Nil'rak's Shroud or Zor'khan's lightning, or any number of winds and storms roused by rampaging dragons.
Remian and Captain Lance worked to get the Acrobat up and running. It didn't have a whole lot of mana available to power it, but they gave it what they could.
Ermine churned out enough Tier 4 semi-automatic guns for one hundred town guards. The weapon of choice was the Impact Pistol, an ancient Tau design that focused on stopping power. While it wasn't very accurate at long range, the smokeless, high-pressure firearms fired off rounds at such high velocities they would literally blow apart most unarmored humans within twenty meters.
As for herself, she built a gun turret on the elevator to the roof of her apartment and mounted a heavy multi-barrel autocannon on it. On top of that, she piled on metal plating turning the elevator into a pop-up bunker.
Aside from Alani, the rest of Class-2 weren't doing quite so well. They had tried to fly to Kara-Goth on their airship, but the storms raged on, and the airship went tumbling down and they were forced to limp back to Craggy Falls just as the rain started to fall.
Lydia started smoking.
Wulfgar started drinking his third tankard of ale that day.
Asda's dead body was discovered by already-panicked citizens among the ruins in Fal'Herim. Apparently she did not survive the door.
Meanwhile, Charlie was sitting in the wreckage of the Ashdalian flagship, holding Mandy's battered form in his arms. Mandy's breathing was hoarse and shallow, her clothing and Charlie's both stained with blood. Her condition was critical and Charlie was in no shape to move either.
"Did we... make a mistake...?" Mandy coughed.
"Don't talk. Save your strength." Charlie choked out.
"There's no point." Mandy let out a low, self-mocking laugh. "After... everything... now that I think back... all I ever wanted... was just..."
She trailed off. Charlie did not say anything either. Blood slowly trickled out of her mouth.
"How did... it come to this...? How did I... end up... here?"
Slowly, she closed her eyes. Then, she sighed. "Mindy... I'm sorry."
There was only silence.
"Remian... I'm sorry."
Once more she coughed, and she coughed up blood. At last, she turned to Charlie.
"Charlie... I'm sorry."
Charlie shook his head, no longer able to say anything. It wouldn't have mattered anyway.
The sound of hoarse breathing stopped. Mandy's body no longer moved, no longer breathed, her heart no longer beat.
Charlie sighed.
"Goodbye."

I ignored them as I started to scoff down my food quickly, the quicker, the less time I get to taste it. And at this point, is a good thing.

They said it was to make us less picky when eating, because eventually when we graduate from secondary, when we're finally 18,
and full adults under their control. We'll need to be able to survive under any condition. Resulting in the poorly made food.

The stew tasted like how it smells, fish with oats and burnt, how it was burnt while being a stew? No idea. I tried gulping down the milk from its carton completely ignoring the straw, by opening it entirely by unfolding its edges and pulling the folds apart. It was chunky and spoilt, definitely not in the right condition to be giving to a growing child about to start puberty. I picked out the carrots one by one, they were small and poorly cut, but that wasn't the bad thing about them, no. They still had earth on them from when the were still growing to eventually be consumed by us. And they were even rotting, severely, a green moss looking thing firmly attached itself to the few carrot stick laying in the bag. Man, how I'm jealous of the people with cleansing and earth abilities. Next was the biscuit, no flavour but that was alright, at least it was better than the rest of the meal, the only thing about the round crumbly piece of bread was that it was overly dry, as if it was dunked in flour and the excess sitting on the top of it was definitely neither shook off nor wiped off. At least there was salt. But I don't think that's supposed to go in a biscuit most of the time...

I looked back up at my friends after I finished eati- ...reluctantly putting... things? Down my throat.

Carlos had his signature permanent frown plastered on his facial structure, but it was more defined as his face was turning into a mix between a pale white and green. It reminded me of those trees you have up, near the end of the year. It's been so long since I actually had the chance to celebrate it, I forgot what it was called. Chris? Christ? Mass? Something about Jesus I think?

Mara was tearing up as she warily nibbled on her biscuit, coughing a few times from the dryness. 

Dorian had already finished as I did, no surprise there. Sadly, I didn't get the chance to scald the image of him struggling to eat the cafeteria food into the depths of my brain, but I'm sure I'll get another chance, someday.

"Trying to imagine my disgusted face as I try to eat. I presume, Harpy." 

Damn, he caught me again.

I looked back at my tray bearing my eyes into the thick flat iron. Forcing my eyes to wonder around it seeing if I had missed anything.
I know that I haven't, but I'm not going to let him know that. 
I completely ignored his question as if it was never directed at me in the first place.

He chuckled once again.

I silently pouted as I looked at the exact opposite direction of where he is, and that was right next to me, on the right.

I bounced back in shock, standing there was the Headmistress.

Dorian caught me as I fell back on him, as he glared back in the direction of the Headmistress. As fast as a bolt of lightning I brushed Dorian off,cas I sat up facing my tray and looked back down at it. The rest of the group mimicked my movements, so did Dorian, but very much hesitatingly.

"Well hello there children~ 
Is the food nice or should I go and scold the servers and get you a new plate?~ 
We do want you nice and healthy after all~" 

All that pink resting on her slim figure was blinding me. She looked like Dolores Umbridge but skinnier, and blond. She made an image come to my mind immediately: 
A human radish. 

Now I hate radishes because of her. Great.

I can bet my life on it that Dorian was thinking the same, or at minimal, similar.

"No thank you, Miss Kelton." We all spoke this simultaneously. It's probable that an answer that slightly differs to this, would make her flip into a boundless rage. And when she rages, let's just say that it's extremely frightening. The likeliness of the majority of students experiencing the aftereffects of her rage is extremely high.

And right now, she's in a mood. When the Headmistress is in a mood it normally results in someone eventually doing/saying something to set off the fuse of her rage, 
then she, well, rages.

I'm smelling the tint of iron, no, it's blood. 
And so it seems that I've seen no one with bleeding injuries, so I have concluded, that 
Miss Umbridge 2.0 over here... 
Is on her period...

We're all screwed today. 

Yay.

Raspberry left to move onto the next part table to cruelly mess with their weak mental fortitudes. It seems that she had also went to torture the rest of the students from table 1 and 2 as well.

Then, blazed the siren. 
It's time to start our first lesson for today.

Every child seated in that room lifted themselves from their seats and in single file, strode out of the cafeteria, through the next double doors, serving as an exit and an entrance.

Table 1 (the 3-5 year olds) went on the first floor of the next building we entered.
Table 2 (the 6-8 year olds) went on the second floor.
And finally, table 3 (the 9-12 year olds) went on the third floor, that is where we go. 

We call this building 'The Main building', nothing special, but does imply what it is supposed to be.

Entering from the door from the cafeteria you could see that there was a hallway you stumbled upon, one straight infront, one on the left, and one on the right.

The one on the right at the end was the stairs, where table 2 and table 3 go up. On the left at the end, was the elevator, strictly for the 'teachers', 'cleaners' and, 'them'. No students are permitted to go on it, for a reason that not even I'm sure of. All I know is if they actually go on it they get taken for punishment, and are eventually expelled.

The 'tables' are actually referred as grades, grade 1, 2 and 3. Then it carries on in secondary, but we don't get to know the system there until we're actually in it.

In the main building the corridor straight ahead was for Grade 1. 
Each year group is provided with 2 rooms, each for a different type of 'lessons'. As you go up a grade you receive another room as the curriculum increases. But we'll explain the rest of that as we go along.

We headed towards the stairs, going up them as we followed behind grade 2. They went through the door leading to floor 2. 
As the 12th years leaded us up to the top floor, floor 3. 

We entered through the door reaching the identical hallway to the 1st and 2nd grades. 

And this is the place our daily sadistic torture begins.
