Meat Shield clawed and bit deeply into his shoulder, showing quite an amount of ferocity for a small fluff ball. Eventually, with burn marks scarring his entire body, and the level 5 armorer sank to the ground.

The Merchant of Avarice's eyes lit up at the sight of so much gold. 10 gold was the equivalent of 10,000 silver. It was a huge payday.

Normally, this amount of gold was impossible to possess right now, unless you were Steel Slice and could afford to throw around large sums of real world money.

The disaster level event being triggered introduced so much chaos into the system, that balance was bound to be thrown out the window in some situations.

Even so, finding instances of wonky balance was not easy. This particular exploit required equal parts wits and luck to figure out.

Seriously. Who in their right mind would think to backstab the village vendors for profit in the middle of a goblin invasion? You'd have to be a huge asshole.

There was no need to try to haggle the loot distribution with Books. 10 gold was a massive sum at this point in time, but you couldn't put a price on having a trustworthy ally.

Now it was time to collect my hard earned loot! A wicked smile appeared on my face as I approached the locked armory door.

I took the key and unlocked the door. The room gave off a musty smell. I stepped into the small armory.

"Eh, it's still a small town huh. Not that great of a selection."

Beginner staves, swords, and bows lined the walls.

"Ah, it's a shame we can't carry all this beginner equipment with us. They're cheap individually but would add up to a tidy sum together. But my inventory has a kg limitation…"

Books sounded like a real merchant.

"Kg limit? Actually… I can help with that."

I opened a portal to the dimension room and began throwing all the beginner stuff in.

"Wow, your class gives you limitless storage space?"

"Yeah, more or less."

Books looked at me with a pouty, envious look in his eyes.

"I want that ability. Hoarding should be a merchant's specialty."

"Don't be greedy. You already have your potions."

I took the Basic Amulet of Magic and Thief's hood, while Books took the Helmet of the Warlord. Since it was a rank C item, The Helmet of the Warlord was worth more than the two of my items combined.

Books offered to cover the difference with gold, but I declined. We were set to share a lot more loot in the future, so it would be troublesome to be tied back counting small differences.

Books appreciated the gesture.

The items were really suited for us. I got a mana regen bonus and some much needed vitality, and Books got a flat strength boost. With the strength bonus, Books had a strength stat that equaled a rare melee combat class at his level. It was time to fight our way out of town.

"Interesting."

The developers at Eclipse company were captivated by a certain duo holding their own during a goblin invasion in town. They were alerted to the duo by the system, because they were the first to kill an NPC shopkeeper in the game. It was an impossible task to pull off at their level, or at least it was supposed to be if the game world was in a normal state.

The goblin king's invasion threw many of their calculations off, and feats that were deemed impossible under normal circumstances were now possible.

Eclipse company's developers had access to unrestricted live game footage that the general public did not have access to. This kind of footage could make millions of dollars if broadcasted, but would destroy the integrity of the game by offering perfect information.

The live footage showed a hooded user named [Spoon] using a strange black colored magic on his left hand to tear into the goblin's flesh. His companion, a user called [Books], cut down goblins with his Fine Sword, chugging potions whenever he dropped before 40% health.

"What are their classes?"

"I predict [Spoon] to have a black magic class, and [Books] to be a mercenary type class."

"Hang on, I'm pulling up their data."

"[Spoon] is a [Dimension Thief] and [Books] is a [Merchant of Avarice]."

"…"

A merchant and thief class, holding their own in a fight where even the [Barbarian King] and [Berserker] had trouble?

"I really like the Merchant of Avarice class."

"Thanks, my team designed it."

"If your team designed it, why didn't you recognize it from the footage?"

"I never thought the merchant class could hold its own in combat…"

"What is this Dimension Thief class? Did we add that in the game?"

"I don't remember seeing that."

"Check the logs."

"There's nothing coming up for [Dimension Thief], sir."

"That means it's a unique class designed by the Eclipse AI itself."

Books, Meat Shield, and I made a formidable fighting force. I severely underestimated Meat Shield's fighting power as an inter-dimensional cat. She could jump in and out of the dimension room with ease during combat, making her incredibly hard to kill. The only problem was motivating the moody cat to help me.

Meanwhile, Books now had the power of a rare C rank helmet that boosted his strength to the level of an advanced combat class.

We needed to retreat though. Books ran out of potions, and my mana regen was at its limit with how often I was using dimension ripper. At this rate, we were all dead.

The thought of the 24 hour penalty in addition to my PK and shopkeeper killing penalties made my hair rise.

On the side of the street were the bodies of two warriors and a mage from Steel Guild. I ran to the bodies and checked for any loot I could use.

Books was overwhelmed by three goblins. A spear was impaled in his side, and his health was under 20%. Meat Shield was doing her best to keep the goblins distracted enough so that they didn't finish off Books.

I downed a mana potion, then pointed my right hand at the goblins surrounding Books.

"Thunderbolt."

My right hand cackled with electricity, and a bolt of wild electricity shot out from my palm towards the goblins.

Something went wrong.

BOOM.

The palm of my hand sparked and exploded violently upon casting. It was a more serious version of when you unplug an electric socket forcefully, and sparks fly out of the socket.

The wild bolt of lightning struck the goblin in front, instantly frying it. Dimensional thief was a class with exceptional intelligence growth, which magnified the raw power of the mage thunderbolt skill.

The explosion damage was proportional to my intelligence with an S rating, but I only received 25 damage, when a normal mage or thief would have been instantly killed by the recoil.

The low recoil damage was because my magic resistance growth on this class was astronomically high. If I was any other class, this penalty would make thunderbolt a suicidal option.

What happens if you stay in character select for too long? This is the story of [Spoon], who discovers a glitch in character select. Why is there a black cat here, and what the hell is this trash unique class it gave me? Story written in the style of KR web novels. After the visit to the shrine Umi, Honoka and Kotori part ways with Hiroto and Maki. 

"Today was a lot of fun!" Honoka said while stretching her arms feeling a bit tired but happy nonetheless.

"That's right, I want to hear their duet again. They have that link to each other that made their performance really perfect." Kotori praised while she reminisce for a time.

"Honoka-chan, Kotori-chan, remember that we need to prepare for tomorrow's live so both of you should sleep early and don't stay up late, especially you Honoka!, don't oversleep" Umi strictly said. 

"It's okay Umi-chan!, we know already.. " Honoka reassured her.

"By the way during the game, Umi-chan got her first win of the game right?." Honoka asked.

"Hiroto is a kind guy, he helped us, he persuades Maki-chan and even let Umi-chan win the game.. I might have fallen in love with him he-he" Kotori said giggling. 

"Eh? But Hiroto-chan already got a girlfriend you know?! " Honoka was surprised by her sudden confession.

"He might have a girlfriend but I am fine being a second ah! Umi-chan might be my rival if I do that! hehe Just kidding" Kotori giggled though her cheeks blushed as a result. (AN: Sneaky 100%)

"Mou, what do you mean we are just friends, just friends!" Umi retort while pouting.

"You have yet to realise your true feelings Umi-chan" Kotori said mysteriously smiled

"True feelings... " thinking of Hiroto again Umi blushed and immediately shook her head. 

"Anyway, we just have to thank him and repay him if he needs our help, Hiroto-kun helped us a lot after all" Umi quickly changed the topic quickly.

"We will! " Honoka and Kotori said at the same time.

Umi smiled and walked with them happily chatting with each other until they get separated.

Umi got home and changed to her pajamas as she lay on her bed. She sighed 'true feelings eh' she thought.

She remembered one conversation with Maki while Hiroto was away buying drinks. 

"You really have a kind and cool boyfriend Maki-chan!." Kotori said.

"H-he's a pervert, aggressive and forceful!, but y-yeah he's kind of c-cool and kind." Maki said while twirling her hair. 

"He sure bad on acting when after I won." Umi said while sighing but she was happy because of his consideration.

"Eh?! Hiroto-chan let you win?! " Honoka said surprised.

"Honoka-chan it's obvious you know." Kotori said

"That's just him being so considerate to others, t-that's one of the things I l-like about him..." Maki said with while twirling her hair feeling shy. 

"He didn't let you down Maki, be sure to treasure your boyfriend and never let go of him" Umi said seems smiling but her heart tightens when she said that. 

"U-un" Maki nodded by still looking away.

"True feelings..." Umi fell asleep.

Meanwhile, after parting with the trio.
"I have to go to the bookstore to look for study books, I need to buy new ones." Maki said while thinking of the books she need.

"I'll help out, I don't have anything to do afterwards." Maki just nodded before they held hands before going to the store. Maki didn't shy talking but she nonetheless had a blush on her cheeks and it was more comfortable than always being dishonest, of course it's another thing when there are other people.

"You're getting more popular in the platform, I saw the subscriber count and you're viewers, do you want to continue and become a celebrity?" Maki asked him.

"Do you watch it often?." Hiroto looked at her.

"S-sometimes, I'm just looking up the internet and always saw you're stream coincidentally because there were many people talking about it." Maki looked at the ground they were walking.

"That good?, then that's awesome." he felt a bit amazed.

"Yeah, there was even a post at the school page, a headline for you, you don't know?." Maki look at him while he looked at Maki with a surprise and realization.

"So that's why.." he was approached with few students looking at him and asking for autographs but he denied. In the end, the students had stopped this behavior and just look at him curiously and admiring from far away.

"I don't want to make a choice for now, since I might apply to college someday, so I'm just going to stream every now and the other day when I'm free." Hiroto said while he rubbed his chin.

"Free, aren't you always free when you go home..." Maki rolled her eyes on him.

"I just stream and after that I chat with you, isn't that something to be busy about?." he teased.

"E-eh, th-that's stop that's embarrassing meanie.." Maki punched his stomach lightly as he laughed at her demise.

They reached the bookstore and see something he knew. His light novel was being advertised in the wooden plaque on the entrance to the left of the glass door. It was somewhat a big advertisement and anyone from the street can see it.

'I know that they would be heavily invested in this project, but to think it would have this effect.' he smiled unconsciously.

"Why are you smiling, you're being creepy?" Maki said rolled her eyes.

"He-he, it's nothing, look there's a light novel being recommended, have you read one before?" he chuckled.

"I have read a few of them in the past...."

"Why don't you try to read this during your free time, it's really good but I have bought it already..." Hiroto recommended.

'Well I'm advertising it to my girlfriend, haha' 

"If you say so, but If I didn't like it then I won't continue reading...." she joked but it's probably true, she might be picky with what she reads given her spicy personality.

"Okay, then let's buy the study books first...."

They searched for the books and spent a few moments asking her and looking for the specific books until they were finally done. Hiroto held books on hand and Maki was humming slightly, feeling the advantage of a luggage boyfriend.

'So he didn't want to buy a book but just helped me, he's considerate and that's good.' Maki felt her cheeks get redder.'

"Do you really need to buy this many books?." 

"Of course!, how would I be able to enter a good college..." Maki said with elation.

"We can just go for study lessons or go cram together." he fetch an idea.

"Y-you want to go to a medical school too?" Maki was a bit surprised.

"I might, since you're going to one right?" he smiled.

"Hmmm...then t-that's good..." Maki felt shy and glad at the same time as she twirled her hair.

"..."

"If you're this honest when speaking to others as well.., but I like that you only show this to me, hehe" Hiroto said truthfully.

"W-w-what do you mean!, I don't know what you're talking about, hmpf."

They looked around to find his advertised light novel.

"....This seemed to be the shelf..." Maki looked at the empty shelf, they search to find a copy of the novel, but didn't find one. Before then, the staff saw them looking to the popular novel place as he suddenly talked to them.

"Customer, were really sorry, but we don't have a stock for that novel right now, can you please go back tomorrow to get a copy? But you should get in here as early as possible" the staff was speaking courteously..

"Is it that popular?." he asked probingly.

"Yes, it debuted last week and every time we restocked, it would be bought by many customers." the staff felt amazement.

"....w-well."

"I have a copy so just borrow mine." as they head to the cashier.

"Customers, I recommended you to buy still buy one." 

"...she'll think about it later." they reached the cashier, then he gave the books one by one to be scanned.

"Mah, then it's good." Maki looked at him and smiled, she brought out her purse.

'This is the public sir, mam, why are you flirting in front of me, a single….' the employee felt the injustice in the world

"'Cough', customers please pay the noted price for everything."

After paying the bill, Hiroto and Maki at the park before her mother came, and hailed Maki off. Seeing her go, he walked towards home.

Hiroto had been doing daily quest ever since it was introduced. Albeit some quest cannot be done, due to time and place but the majority of them had been completed and it gave him a great amount of SP. 

Until then, there were many projects of arts and things stocked on his bedroom. Some examples of caricature, renaissance paintings and different geometry arts. There were wooden sculptures of a certain anime models and lastly the manuscript of some novel he had read before like 'To aru Majutsu no Index and the next volumes of the 'Haruhi Suzumiya', he wrote, since he had a daily quest pertaining to it.

He had done the photography quest this morning and now, he wanted to finish the other quest.

He started writing the program, with the help of his arithmetic and other skills it improve his capability to write codes especially logics and a bit of design.

Using D++ he created a no gui calculator. It had the ability to calculate addition, subtraction multiplication and even division.

An almost perfect program other than it was only a console program, created with the help of his other skills. He undeniably created something like a normal programmer can do. Though his was much better and rather than using dull switch statements for everything, he had used different techniques that simplifies the calculation, and that means that his line of code was so much smaller than any average programmer could do. But that was just it.

Tears started to fall out of Zhou Lei's face. This time, his misfortune was caused not by System, but by his sister herself!

His mind was full of thoughts as to how to punish her for it. 

He was so preoccupied that he didn't even acknowledge that his sister tripped. 

"Ah, it hurts!" Zhou Zhenya wailed as she held onto her nose while lying on the floor.

As both Zhou Xiang and Zhou Jiahao heard their daughter shouting, they couldn't bother to stay back anymore, so they decided to go to their son's room.

However, as soon as they arrived, they witnessed a scene. 

Zhou Zhenya's eyes... they were glowing! It was only for a split second before everything went back to normal. 

Zhou Lei, who was by the side, ignored his sister and instead absorbed the only two books that were left. 

They were the "Master Author Book" and the "Artist Virtuoso Book".

Despite having done it once already, Zhou Lei still found it to be really painful. He also did them consecutively, which meant that even though the pain from the first absorption hadn't faded yet, another one came into the fray and doubled the pain! As such, he was on the verge of tears as well.  

He was also lying on the floor, rubbing his temples.

"H- huh?" Zhou Jiahao was utterly confused by what was happening. Both of them were now... crying? 

On the other hand, Zhou Xiang had a vague yet completely wrong idea of what had taken place. 'Did they... do it too intensely or something...?'

Because of Zhou Lei's sobbing, the parents' attention was diverted from Zhou Zhenya's glowing eyes. 

It was not like Zhou Lei did it on purpose. However, he was currently seeing it himself. 

'So... is she the one that absorbed the books?' Zhou Lei thought as a tear fell from his eye. This was too unfair, too unfair! 

He opened System's interface to confirm his suspicions. Lo and behold, most of the stats with the [Sister] tag before it were all above 100...

He looked at his in comparison... don't even think about it...

Anyway, Zhou Lei also thought about the fact that his sister absorbed that many books. He himself absorbed just a couple, but he already felt like he was in the depths of hell... how could absorbing that many books feel like? Or does she feel it at all?

'I guess this is divine retribution!'

In fact, Zhou Lei's suspicions were all spot on as Zhou Zhenya was whimpering on the floor with an extremely heavy strain on her head. 

'This... this hurts!' Zhou Zhenya was about to fall unconscious. She was barely holding on as she tried to stay conscious. 

She didn't even notice her parents come into the room as she was too focused on not fainting.

After the whole situation alleviated, Zhou Zhenya lied in her room recuperating. As for Zhou Lei, he stayed in his own room.

"What." Zhou Lei checked System again just to make sure of his sister's bloated stats, but what he was welcomed with was a prompt. 

"Please pay your debt of $11500."

"Why do I have a large debt?!" Zhou Lei asked System furiously.

"Host has bought a total of 23 books, $500 each. Total sum is $11500." System replied in the usual calm manner.

"Bought? Me, buying things? It was a f**king bug for crying out loud!" Zhou Lei was really fuming right now.

He just retrieved the one freebie book from his inventory, but suddenly, an avalanche of books fell on him! And now System was asking for payment?

Zhou Lei was on the verge of tears. It clearly wasn't his fault! What's more, he didn't even make use of the books, his sister absorbing them before he himself could!

After a while, Zhou Lei cooled down. He knew that even though this system was really buggy, it has made an impact on his life after only three days! He more or less needed to find a way to repay this "debt" of his.

"Haah, so I need to follow through..." Zhou Lei recalled the two books he absorbed earlier: the Master Author Book and the Artist Virtuoso Book.

With those two books, he could easily create money on the world wide web by becoming an author of either a novel or a comic.

There were also the two other freebies that he availed from the system shop earlier, which would greatly help him.

The only matter hindering Zhou Lei from retrieving the other two items was the fear that the same thing could happen as with the book, and that was unintentionally buying items of the same branch.

"Hmm, should I do it or should I do it?" Zhou Lei was having a hard time deciding whether he should do it or do it.

"Ah, fine, here goes nothing!" Zhou Lei silently prayed that System won't extort him of his money anymore.

He retrieved the glasses first, hoping that System wouldn't bug out.

A light shined directly in front of Zhou Lei's eyes. It seemed that instead of landing in front of him like the books, it was going to appear latched onto his face!

"Pretty nice!" Zhou Lei commented.

A hologram of a pair of glasses was projected in Zhou Lei's face and was adjusting itself to fit Zhou Lei's head. Eventually, it was the right size and materialized into the real pair of glasses.

"Hmm..." Zhou Lei was trying to get used to the glasses. It wasn't too big nor too small, it was just the right size, so it didn't take that long.

"So it doesn't hinder my vision, eh?" Zhou Lei thought that, like most pairs of glasses, it would enhance the vision of those who were of poor eyesight, and dampen those who had okay eyesight.

However, these glasses didn't do anything like that. It seems that, other than giving him endless ideas, as said by the description given by System, it could also be used as an accessory.

"But... where are my endless ideas?" Zhou Lei thought. The surge of ideas he expected to get was not present in his mind. On the contrary, all he could think about was the whereabouts of said ideas.

"Is it a scam?" Zhou Lei was now doubting System. Although so far, System hasn't given him any fakes, considering that it has only given him about three items, there was a possibility that the glasses wouldn't work.

Of course, Zhou Lei highly doubted that possibility since System was a miracle worker. It changed his whole appearance overnight and improved his voice and cooking skills instantly!

How a measly idea generator wasn't working was none of Zhou Lei's concern, as it should eventually work sooner or later.

The next item, the keyboard, was retrieved from his inventory and materialized the same way as with the books: it landed in front of him.

With his arms stretched out, Zhou Lei found it very easy to catch the keyboard.

"Wow, this thing looks awesome!" Zhou Lei couldn't help but nod his head in approval. The keyboard looked high-end and expensive, with LED lights surrounding each key.

Obviously, as there was no power source to draw electricity from, these LED lights were not lit up. Zhou Lei only noticed them because of the seemingly see-through material that surrounded each key.

"Hmm, I should test it." 

With great satisfaction, Zhou Lei stood up and went to the computer room.

Looking at the seemingly high-end keyboard and looking back at the ancient computer at the end of the room, Zhou Lei couldn't help but shake his head in disappointment.

"Hmm, are there computers in System's shop?", Zhou Lei thought. "If that's the case then that'd be great."

He planned on buying a new high-end computer from System, or at least something that was better than their current computer.

He walked towards the computer, opened it, and plugged off the previous keyboard.

The keyboard was full of missing keys. If one tried to type anything on it, they would be drastically impeded by the lack of keys on the keyboard.

Only the ones who have memorized the positions of the letters on the keyboard, like Zhou Lei, could operate it smoothly.

"I'll miss you, ancient keyboard." Zhou Lei whispered to the keyboard while opening the window outside.

Immediately, the smell of trash and smoke entered the room, as well as the smell of sewage.

He then threw the keyboard out.

The window was actually useless, since outside was just another building. The gap between the building and the Zhou house was measly, it could be measured by a hand.

The keyboard that was thrown outside fit into that gap and fell down.

Zhou Lei popped his head outside the window and looked down, seeing the keyboard.

"It's just right there..."

Not being able to bear the stench anymore, Zhou Lei closed the windows and resumed setting up the new keyboard.

"Hmm..." Zhou Lei looked at the plug of the keyboard. It was a USB, instead of the plug that the previous keyboard had.

Looking at the USB ports on the CPU, Zhou Lei realized that he had a problem: the USB ports were all already occupied!

Two for the two printers, one for the mouse, one for the speakers. There were a total of four ports to plug the USB in.

"What should I eject?" Zhou Lei had a hard time deciding. This keyboard would be plugged in indefinitely, so it wasn't possible to eject an essential.

The mouse was, of course, not unpluggable. Obviously, this was very much needed for using the computer, otherwise, he would have to memorize every single keyboard shortcut to operate the computer.

The speakers were also essentials, since sound was rarely turned off by his family when they use the computer.

Zhou Lei had his own earphones, so he didn't have a need for these speakers, but his family needed both the keyboard and the speakers.

That led to the last two machines plugged in, and they were the two printers.

"Do we need two printers?" Zhou Lei contemplated.

To hasten the process of printing, his father used both printers. However, recently, his father has been printing in his workplace instead of here.

"Anyway, if he ever needs to print something again, he can do it on the other printer..."

"In that case...!" Zhou Lei finally made a decision. He was going to unplug... the speakers.

It was then that System gave him a new quest.

Contrary to his expectations, however, System responded, although with a different response as opposed to what he expected but didn't expect.

"What the heck?!" Zhou Lei was really getting angry now. At first, he was really glad that System responded, but it turned out that it just repeated what it said earlier!

"Ugh, what the heck is System talking about..." Zhou Lei muttered to himself.

In his fit, he forgot his previous decision to unplug the speakers. Instead, he unplugged one of the printers instead, as it was obviously the logical choice.

System notified him that he completed the quest.

"Hmm? That quickly? What did I do?" Zhou Lei's head was full of questions.

Nonetheless, he gratefully accepted the reward like an awesome guy.

"Yes, yes. I'm so cool, I complete quests without being aware of them." Zhou Lei was slowly turning into a narcissistic person.

System gave him a new quest.

Description: In all of the Japanese novels, the dense but modest main character always gets all of the girls. This is the way to be popular.

"Wait..." When Zhou Lei read the quest name, he realized how much self-praise was contained in his previous remark, and was regretful.

He also felt lucky that no one was around to see that, otherwise they would've condemned him for his excessive narcissism.

He had to change his character now. To one of a dense, modest, kind, sensitive to girls... basically a person without any personality.

"Hmm... would I want this?" Zhou Lei contemplated. This would surely help him get popular, but did he really want to do it with a fake personality?

"Yeah, no." After thinking for a while, Zhou Lei finally decided against it. He should just fake the two traits given by the quest. Who knows, maybe he could mold his actual personality into that of modesty and denseness?

As he read the rewards, his eyes doubted themselves. Zhou Lei also doubted his eyes, but that's not the main point!

Anyway... he was shocked. In the rewards was something that was neither a lottery ticket nor an upgrade point.

It was... an actual item! An actual usable item! Also, based on its name, it should control other people's actions!

No matter how kind someone may be, curiosity would always tempt him to try it at least once.

After his thoughts, his desire to get this Mind-Controlling cube drastically decreased. Even though its effects were already amazing, as Zhou Lei was used to more amazing things because of System, this specific item did not satisfy his standards.

However, he still held a hint of anticipation for it. After all, it was still an item given by System. Surely, these people that had a 'strong will' were rare, and most people would be affected by the item.

As he reached the bottom of the description, he noticed something peculiar.

"Wait, used one times?" Zhou Lei was puzzled, "That's the wrong grammar!"

After a realization of his irrelevance, Zhou Lei gets a life-changing system that enables him to redeem himself - in the most attention-catching way possible!

Alyx daily routine involved doing experiments in Paradise based on the beginner books he had and trying to find the solution to the problems he encountered. Sometimes he succeeded and at others, he failed or the outcomes were different than what he predicted. He slowly started to do experiments on animals other than the loonies and he stopped his attempt to create an animal of the earth as he was running out of CP.

He asked Neo for advice many times but he did not any reply. He could only think about those problems on his own and try to come up with a solution. Neo did not want to spoon feed Alyx and make him his replica. He wanted him to think for himself and come up with his own style which could even surprise him. Alyx did not know about these thoughts of Neo and continued with his work.

At first, he was curious and enjoyed doing the experiments but he slowly began to feel it as a chore. It is due to his nature as he never worked very hard on his own without any goal while on earth. He always did things as needed and did not over exert himself. He was only able to persevere as he wanted to return home as quickly as possible. But no matter how much one is motivated it is very difficult to maintain it and he slowly started making mistakes in experiments. Even with Ax help, he was failing at a higher rate than at the beginning.

"I can't continue in this way and need to come up with a different approach." Even Alyx felt that the methods in the books were not suited for him as they were made with Aons in mind and required the individual to have very high processing speed and make decisions at a high speed to prevent the failure.

Even though he gave all the difficult tasks to Ax and he just concentrated on the decision making part it was still tough on him. To relax his mind Alyx went to MBG, he could have gone to any other Aon station but since he was already familiar with the place he decided to go there.

This time he directly went to a game store so that he can experience it in more detail than the last time. As he soon as he entered he was greeted by a plump alien which appeared be an obese human with spikes for hair. If Ax did not inform him of the alien characteristics he would have assumed the owner to be obese but all the members of that race have such appearance.

"Welcome to my shop sir, are you new to this or do you have something on your mind." The shop owner greeted enthusiastically. Alyx was not able to see anyone around but there were many entering and leaving the store when he saw from outside. This is also one of the features shops can pay some amount and make it so that their customers get the experience of being the only customer. Each customer as soon as he enters is transported to a replica of the shop reception and one of the shop's agent would then meets and guides him. The customer can even go to the main reception if he does not want this feature but for first-time customers, it is usually free.

"What are your recommendations?" Alyx asked the shop owner as he did not know anything about the games being offered. Each shop has their own specialty which they have developed on their own and some popular titles which are played throughout the universe.

These are 100% simulated virtual games, as lifelike as reality, they use the tools provided on Paradise for some fee to create and run them. There are many kinds of games developed by different civilizations and as long as there is a demand anything one can think of, the game companies will definitely be able to make them.

"Sir we have all the popular titles and our specialty is combat games we have created them under the guidance of a grandmaster and you can learn and practice your fighting techniques in it." The shop owner was very happy to find the first timer as he can trick him into becoming a regular full-time customer.

The shop owner immediately started to offer Alyx all kinds of refreshments and trying to make him buy a long time membership by explaining him about all the benefits he can get.

Alyx just ignored him and went through the list of games, looking through their descriptions. The boss was very patient and waiting for Alyx to come to a decision. The price quoted by the shop owner was not much to an Aon like him but he wanted to save it for experiments as he was already running low.

Alyx said to the shop owner that he would think about it and decided to try all games. The shop owner was a bit disappointed but was still happy as it was not a small amount to play all games in the list. He thought that Alyx was from a rich background and decided to try again later to make his take a membership.

The shop owner led Alyx to his own room and arranged the best one he had. To enter the game it is very easy as they are already in a virtual world but for players privacy, a room is provided. A player can enter the game by just opening a portal to the game world. Each game station has their own unique way and here they just have to throw the game token and the gate will appear.

After reaching the VIP room Alyx first wanted to try an open world game and immediately opened a portal to a popular open world title. Alyx was very excited to see how it would feel and Ax would also be accompanying him as personal AIs are allowed in all these games. These games are made keeping personal AIs in mind to improve the user experience.

Death was just the beginning.

After signing autographs and taking many two shots. Misaki looked at her teacher Kido Sensei who was standing in front of her with paper, pen, and mobile phone in hand.  "Kido Sensei I did not take you for a gamer..." 

Kido Sensei blushed. Her normal front is a tough high school teacher who is strict but here she was looking to get an autograph and a two shot with one of her students. But now because of Misaki's comment, she was not sure if she should even ask for the autograph! Seeing Kido Sensei's inner turmoil made Misaki giggle on the inside. "Who am I signing this too?" 

"Kido Sensei is fine!" A big smile formed on Kido Sensei's face. 

After getting her autograph and two shot Kido Sensei returned back to being like she was before and started class. Misaki, who recently been sleeping at night, decided to use her school days to learn as much as she can on things that will be helpful to her in game. She figured during the first break she would run to the library and see if they have any books on sewing. She really needed to get some new armor made up. She had stored the snake she killed last time and was unsure if it could be used for anything. If she could make a set of armor that was light yet durable she would be happy. Misaki also wanted to get some engineering books so she can start learning the ends and out of creating some basic machines to help speed up the process of crafting things.

Of course, this did not all go according to plan. Misaki could not even get out of her classroom as she was bombarded by students from other classes asking for autographs. "Excuse me! I need to go to the library!" Her words fell on deaf ears as the students who were surrounding her pushed paper and pen into her hand to get their autographs. 

"Everyone get out of the way! You might want an autograph but causing the person you are asking an autograph from so much trouble to the point you are blocking her from leaving is not a fan but a bully!" A small figure pushed through the group of students and positioned themself in front of Misaki.

"Chiho!" Misaki looked at Chiho as if her life's savior had just shown up. 

 Chiho only gave Misaki a nod and a smile before turning back to the group of students."If this ever happens again I will make sure that none of you can make it to school tomorrow..." Chiho's cold gaze sent shivers down the group of students' spines. If there was anyone in this school who could frighten even the toughest kid in school without needing to so much as lift a finger, everyone in school would say that that person was Nagasawa Chiho. 

The group of students quickly dispersed with the appearance of Chiho. "Mitsu let's go to the principal's office. I will have him transfer me into your class. I originally did not want to use my family to put pressure on anyone but you need someone one near you to keep these idiots away." 

"Chiho, marry me!" Misaki said jokingly as she hugged Chiho.

Chiho rolled her eyes as she said: "You keep joking like that and I will hold you to it when I am of marriageable age!" 

The two girls talked and laughed as they walked towards the principal's office. Many students along the way wanted to come forward and ask Misaki for her autograph but with Chiho standing next to her, no one dared to do so. "Chiho how does me soloing two world bosses become this?" Misaki could feel all the eyes on her causing her to feel somewhat uncomfortable. 

"To be honest I do not know either. I think one reason is that you were level 2 and killed a level 100 Golem King and another reason is that you showed some insane moves while battling the Treant King. What surprised me was how well you mixed all the martial arts and parkour you learned in one day into something that was truly awe inspiring when it came to fighting! Believe it or not, Mitsu you are almost as popular as some of the biggest movie stars in the country."  Chiho explained.

"But I do not want to be popular!" Misaki complained as she stomped her feet. 'All I wanted to do was play a game! How did it turn into this!?'  

"Chiho do you think they will let me take my classes in game?" Hearing Misaki's question caused Chiho to roll her eyes again.

"I think only you would be willing to take classes in a game just so you do not have to deal with reality!" Chiho said.

"Well… fine I will give up on that idea but still if anything it would be kind of cool to do once." Misaki really did think having a class inside a game for a day would be somewhat fun.

"This I can not disagree with. I would not mind seeing it happen once just for a change of pace." Chiho agreed. She would not mind have her classes in a game once just to see what it would be like but as an everyday thing, she did not want that to happen. It would be basically turning her escape from the real world into the real world. Now if it used a different platform altogether she would not mind it as much. 

It was not long before the two girls reached the principal's office.

The progress bar disappeared, and a simple black and white interface appeared in front of Song Yan.

"Host, click the "Prize" in the middle of the prize wheel and start the drawing." Meow reminded Song Yan.

"I get it." Song Yan clicked the "Prize". The letter disappeared and an indicator appeared. Meanwhile, seven boxes with different colors appeared around the indicator.



The indicator rotated quickly and finally stopped pointing to a red box. Song Yan was surprised to see three glittering words on the red box, "Extraordinary Retentive Memory".



Suddenly, the three letters melted into a streak of golden light and flew to Song Yan's eyebrows. But Song Yan didn't feel any change.



Song Yan found there was something different in the Magical Power bar.

"Meow, how should I use it?" Song Yan asked.



"Host, just read Extraordinary Retentive Memory silently," Meow answered.



"Extraordinary Retentive Memory!" Song Yan read it to himself. Then he grabbed an English book and began to read words.



After one minute, Song Yan closed the book and began to recall the 100 words that he read just now. He was delighted to find that he remembered every word.



"Amazing!" Song Yan couldn't help praising the power.

Students were used to tests, as there were many tests since they entered Senior Three. Therefore, they were not surprised at all.



Hearing the words, Song Yan itched to have a go. He had memorized a lot of knowledge and he wanted to know whether he could have a better score.

I'm currently in some strange place, I say strange because there is nothing but darkness all over the place. Still, I feel very warm, that's weird considering that the last thing I did before waking up here is I died. At-least I suppose I died.

It started at 13 past 10 in the morning of Friday, I can't remember the exact date because I was drugged for my own good since a while back. I won't tell you my exact sickness just that with today's tech a cure has yet to be found ad it was terribly painful all the time. I was diagnosed at the age of 32 after a few months I couldn't work anymore and needed to be in the hospital 24/7.

I sold my house since my life insurance would not cover all my hospital needs, the U.S is shitty for that, too bad I wasn't born a Canadian I could have saved a lot of money on treatment. Anyway after doing that I bought a postal box to get my mail and had my friend pick it up for me weekly, Then my life of suffering started.

Most of my friends stopped visiting after the first year, and I had to arrange for one of the nurse's to pick up my mail from time to time after my friend got married and had gone to live at the other side of the country. I was not mad at anyone though it was their life to lice I didn't want to stop them from living it.

From then on I had only two things I would do read manga of all sorts, with Naruto as my favorite, and learning every thing i could about medical knowledge. The doctors were actually really kind about it and let me borrow their old school books I was thankful for it, those books cost $100 each and some that are more specific in the 1000s. If the doctors weren't fond of my personality and pitied me so much they wouldn't have handed over the latter.

But since the beginning of my hospitalization I had tried to maintain my physical form at least, nothing much just some stretches and yoga exercises plus a couple of muscle training exercises. I thought that it would help me in the long run and make me a bit healthier but seems like my disease had other ideas for my body's condition. I ended up in bed anyway with my whole body hurting all over till the day I bit the big one.

I clearly remember hearing the alarm that would sound that would alert the doctor in charge of major changed in condition and tell the doctor to come running but it was too late my heart had already failed many times in the past 2 months. Rather, it was a relief that I had died at that moment, the pain stopped and I woke up in a strange and empty place. I was going to try to remember more when I noticed a new presence around.

"Who's there!?"

"Calm down, little one I'm just someone who got interested in the pitiful you and is going to give you a chance at life again"

Ten months later on the same day in the world of Naruto a little baby girl was born with black hair and whitish eyes, she was the daughter of the Konohagakure clan head, her mother and father had joyous smiles on their faces, The birth of their first child was a happy occasion after all.

"Lord Hiashi, your brother has come to congratulate you on the birth of your child do you want me to let him in?"

"Obviously, he is my brother after all he needs to know what his niece looks like"

A couple of moments later a man with the same appearance as the clan head made his entrance. He was wearing a formal outfit as the head protector of the village, in his hand was something that looked like a gift for the baby.

"Sorry I didn't really want to disturb you on the birthday of your child but my wife said it would be inappropriate not to come and congratulate you. Hum... I'm bad with that, it was the same when Neji was born I didn't know how to act. I'm sorry I hope the gift my wife has chosen for the baby won't be unappreciated"

"Certainly not, I'm sure Hinata will love those toys. What do you think Hiashi?"

"Well that's a thoughtful gift she is sure to have a great time with them"

Hinata's uncle smirked a little at those words understanding his older brother was not berrer than him when Neji was born. After a couple more exchanges of amiability he took his leave.

"I hope our daughter becomes a great kunoichi in the future, so she can assemble the Hyuga under a single big family" Hinata's mother didn't know she was foreshadowing the change of destiny that her daughter would be met with in the future nor that this change would influence everyone in the elemental countries. 

Mother can sometimes have scary insight, only time will tell the truth of the matter though. Naruto, Sasuke and all the main characters of the story might have a hard time to shine as much as Hinata in the future, but who cares it's not their story anymore.

Holy Light Ancestral Temple was one of those popular War of Light Main Plot Dungeon amongst the Level 40 - 120 players, and one of the major contributing reasons was the 2 Gatekeeper Paladins. After killing them, there was a small chance of producing great quality skill books, which could be sold for up to hundreds of gold coins. Hence, once the players reached Level 60, slaying the Paladins would be a piece of cake, and hence farming the skill books would become a profitable business.
Statistics had shown that the two Paladins were able to produce over thousands of skill books. Unfortunately, the downside was that they had an extremely low drop-rate. Therefore, it was considered extremely profitable if they could receive a book per day.
"My luck is pretty good." Lin Jie announced the skill book's attributes and laughed.
[Wind Spirit Protection]: Increases your Movement Speed by 25%, and the effect lasts for 12 seconds.
Wind Spirit Protection was a great quality escape skill that could be learned by all jobs. Think about just how unfair it would be if a Mage was able to cast all types of strong spells while avoiding attacks by activating the Wind Spirit Protection?
This skill book was worth at least 200 gold coins.
"All jobs skill books, everyone, let's ROLL," said Lin Jie as this was the best solution for Savage Blade. Everyone was itching to have a go at the first victory loot.

"Yay!" Qiu Yuan made a victory sign as she kept the skill book in her bag with a winning roll of 100 points while laughing at Lin Jie's pathetic 3 points. However, she gave the book to Bu Yi as she understood how important escaping skills were for healers. Bu Yi's life might be saved by that 25% increase in Movement Speed.
They have officially entered the Holy Light Ancestral Temple Dungeon after clearing the Gatekeeper Paladins. As they headed into the hall, the sight of countless quivering commoners welcomed them. There were hundreds of men that were hoping to enter the temple in search of a comfortable life.
These devoted commoners were at Level 40 with a health bar of 250,000 points with average attributes and were unable to cast Holy Light magic. The only troublesome part was that there were simply too many of them. If they were unlucky, several critical hits might cause the death of MTs.
"The Holy Light will punish all evil and protect its devoted subjects." At the peak stood a Paladin clad in Gold heavy armor, holding a shield in one hand. That was the Boss 1 of the Holy Light Ancestral Temple, Guardian Eller. He waved his large hands and rays of Holy Light fell like rain, anyone that came into contact with it would have their attributes boosted, the same went for players.
"Stay away from the Holy Light. Camel and Red Dust, gather all the monsters towards our direction using the explosion arrow. Night and Baili, cut down their speed to give our MTs some buffer time to attack. Qiu Yuan, release the fog to reduce Critical Hit Damage, while Star Kill, you attack the boss and draw out its aggro. Bring it away from the smaller monsters while Ziliang uses the Mechanical Gargoyle to tank the damage." Lin Jie gave out the orders, and the whole team powered up as they worked together in tandem.
This group of commoners with average attributes served as a headache for many guilds as Guardian Eller would randomly sprinkle Holy Light and bless the masses, which increased their attributes, as they battled. Hence, it was a common sight to see players' battles get tougher as time passed, eventually getting consumed by the smaller monsters. Furthermore, no one dared to challenge Guardian Eller before clearing the obstacles before him. Thus, they could only use large attacks to attack the commoners.
Using a large attack on the first wave of monsters, what would they do afterward?
BOOM!
Red Dust drew her bow and shot at the commoners that swarmed up upon being attacked. The Heavenly Shield and Mixed Breathless supported with defense while Baili Changcheng and Dejected Night slowed down the commoners using frost magic.
Dejected Night was a low profile player but was a master at controlling his skills, even more so than Baili Changcheng. He cast a layer of ice that sealed off the commoners' path, splitting them into 3 different packs that minimized the damage suffered by MTs the greatest.

Mixed Breathless had much higher defense points as compared to The Heavenly Shield, but with the help of Dejected Night, The Heavenly Shield was under much less pressure, and the damage he suffered was only 1/3 of that of Mixed Breathless. 
Baili Changcheng eyed the skillful Dejected Night and soon imitated and adjusted his attacking methods.
Star Kill activated Rush, swung a knife onto the Boss' head, and dragged him along.
With the absence of Guardian Eller's blessings, the commoners were only Level 40 Elites with average attributes. Hence, Domestic Fat Cattle activated Blazing Fire Rain as he planned to stir up his DPS, resulting in countless meteors striking the commoners as chains of 1,000+ damage were hurled up. Fat Cattle smiled in pride however, he was utterly stunned as he turned backward.
Lin Jie was surrounded by monsters, and his Broken Blade was covered by Flame Boost, and he was hacking with the Blade Aura. When he used the Army Obliteration Quadruple attack, over hundreds of damage values begun popping up. The DPS value was twice as much as that of Fat Cattle!
The 100+ commoners were troublesome opponents for many guilds, but they were being slain just like that by Savage Blade. Lin Jie turned his attention to the other commoner monsters as there still remained several batches of monsters in the corners ranging from Level 50-70. Savage Blade followed the same plan and slew them all.
After three hours, all the monsters had been cleared. Star Kill activated Forced Invisibility breathlessly as he revoked the aggro and escaped back to base.
"OMG, that was so tiring." Star Kill patted his chest as he wheezed heavily and said, "I felt like I was being chased by a gaylord that was about to confess."
Lin Jie glanced at him in surprise. "You have been chased by a gaylord?"
"Cough, cough—" Star Kill cleared his throat dryly and called out, "Did any good items explode out? Have you guys searched the corpses?"
"Right, right, right, we should corpse-search quickly, it will be such a waste if all these corpses get respawned."
Everyone swarmed up upon hearing that, but they still spent over 10 minutes searching through the corpses, due to the large number of bodies. With so many monsters, no matter how unlucky one may be, they would still be able to get a number of items. The potions, miscellaneous items, and coins formed a huge pile. Besides those, there were still over 20 sets of Bronze equipment. However, the most valuable item was the [Holy Light Mark].
[Holy Light Mark], just like the light-point-items exploded from many Bosses, were welfare for those unlucky players. If one's luck had reached a certain low, and could not get any good equipment, they could accumulate the Holy Light Mark and exchange for Gold equipment, and Gold Armor Sets with the Quartermaster.
Those small monsters produced a total of 100 Holy Light Mark, which was sufficient to redeem Gold equipment.
After clearing the small monsters, it was time to face the scary Boss with the title, Night Mare. He was the Holy Light Ancestral Temple's Boss 1, Guardian Eller!

Additional effect: Protection of the Fallen Holy Light, there is a chance that Guardian Eller will revive when he is killed.
The Protection Paladin that held the shield was the Boss that had been a pain in the ass for countless teams. As a Protection Paladin, or better known as a Defense Paladin, he possessed countless defensive tactics that were admired by other Defense Paladins. Such tactics included: Complete Block, Parry, Attack Deflection, Thorns Aura, Vitality Regeneration, and so on. Coupled with a Defense of 1,600 points, he was invincible.
However, one should not underestimate Guardian Eller's attacking power. A Level 50 Boss had 20% of attributes suppression over normal players, and they were considered terrifying entities with attack power up to 1,500+. Players that were not as well equipped would probably end up half-dead.
"Guardian Eller only has two stages. During stage 1, Guardian Eller's main abilities are Vitality Regeneration and Retribution Halo. But it is important to note that the Vitality Regeneration skill cannot be interrupted. Fortunately, silence attacks can still hurt the Boss," murmured Lin Jie. 
Guardian Eller was a classic 'Competency Check Boss'. In other words, if a team could not even defeat him, they should give up on entering the temple.
During Stage 1, Guardian Eller only had 2 moves.
Number 1, would be the Retribution Halo. Just like the Retribution Halos of all Paladins, it was able to inflict damage on all attacking units and deflect 250 points of attack. If everyone in the team were to attack at once, it would be a challenge for the healer.
Number 2, would be Vitality Regeneration. Paladins in The New Age were also known as 'New Age Tumour' for their perverse vitality regeneration and depletion ability. Guardian Eller had a total of 7 vitality regeneration skills, including the renowned [Lay on Hands], as well as two other Healing Spells that were able to regain half a health bar once cast.
The first stage relied fully on DPS! Blast out damage without any qualms! Once the Boss' health bar dropped below 500,000 points or its mana bar was fully depleted, the first stage would be considered passed.
"Charge!" Lin Jie waved his hands, and everyone bolted up steadily as their attacks poured down like torrents onto the Boss. Guardian Eller growled, and his a mellow yellow hue covered the tip of his shield.
"Perfect Defense!"
"Holy Protection!"
"Hand of Recovery!"
Everyone's attacks fell like raindrops onto Guardian Eller as they all got perfectly blocked. Other than the mages' hundred over damage points, everyone else, including Lin Jie, had only inflicted damages less than 3 digits! Furthermore, every perfect block by the Boss allowed it to regain 100 health points.
Ten minutes later, Guardian Eller's life points were only depleted by 5%, and everyone else's health bar was almost fully drained despite the efforts of the healer. Besides, Guardian Eller was very intelligent, so he would not activate his vitality regeneration skill if the depletion was within 10%. Thus, his mana bar was still full.
If this continued, they would lose eventually!
"Everyone, listen to my command, you have 10 seconds to channel your ultimate attack. Let's trash the Boss into the second stage in one go," said Lin Jie relentlessly.
Everyone was stunned as it had taken them 10 minutes to just deplete 5% of Guardian Eller's health. Now, Lin Jie wanted them to drain 50% in one shot to enter the second stage? That would be insanely difficult!
