The reason why nothing adds to the slow development is partly the grammar and the story development. There isn't anything that can draw a reader into the story, it's all pretty predictable which is probably why everyone types, "MORE CHAPTERS PLZZZZZZZ!11!!!!1!" Now regarding the uniqueness with the memes, it's really not unique. There are a lot of novels out there with meme references, it's subtle or a one every 50 chapters in those novels for a reason, "Milked comedy just isn't funny."

Sorry you can't take a review at hand and think of ways to improve a story. It doesn't matter if you are a new writer or not, if there is a bunch of reviews stating the same several points.
