Well, this story has a major problem and may push many people away: the writing style. Instead of writing = "Hey honey how are you?" Father asked = The author wrote = Father: Hey honey how are you? = If you can look past this, then try it, and make your own opinion.

I actually prefer it the way the author does it, makes it easier to read, and less redundant with having "so and so asked" or "so and so said" so frequently, As a reader it lets me quickly see who's saying what and focus more on what's being said. but like the author commented everyone has their own preference and I respect yours.

I like the said and asked bc we can skiped the ending as we can tell who is talking but for those that dont its helpful for them while the : it causes most people to read the beginning and it gets kindof annoying to always read whos talking when you alrdy know whos talking thats why some novels skip the said when two people are having a conversation as you wont have to repeat yourself its like always say jack when u can use he but all in all its only for efficiency as peps like to do things efficient and fast
