Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, comes from a wealthy family. His father, Dr. Brian Xavier, was a respected nuclear scientist whose work generated significant wealth. After his father's death, his mother married Dr. Kurt Marko, a colleague of Brian’s, who might have had a vested interest in the family fortune, possibly even being involved in his death. Charles inherited the family wealth, estimated at around 3.5 billion US dollars, and used it to fund Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and support the X-Men. While the exact source of this wealth isn't fully detailed, it's believed to be tied to his inheritance, along with possible successful investments and the support of wealthy allies.
