Read as of 300+ Aiko is best girl. It's a niche (I think i recall the author having a few chapters talking about the struggle with the popularity of his book) and somewhat of a slice of life with lots of focus on Heroines and the relationship with the main character. But it's really good when it comes to the story it's trying to tell. If you can survive the obnoxious Lia, then you will enjoy it if you like the style of this novel. Definitely one of my favourite Chinese fantasy novels because of the heavy focus of relationships between the mc and heroines. SPOILER My favourite moment is definitely that moment when he shows off to one of his past gacha party members his past lost overpowered strength during a moment of crisis. THE RETURN OF SHADOW!!! That moment was fu**ing epic and hype. Definitely one of my favourite tropes. Aiko is Best girl!!!
Read 96/114 as of this review. The story is not bad. The author has some surprising interesting developments in the story which offer great twists, but the execution often falls short. This is because it often feels like it's shoehorned in, not planned,so it it can feel not developed enough or out of place. The story also tends to have several chapters where I've read that feel like it didn't offer any real purpose or just word padding. So it's annoying when you're waiting for the plot to kick in, it's fine if it's satisfactory, but it wasn't for me unfortunately. The character I like the most is suprisingly Xavier and Rylan. This may be because they doesn't get as much screen time as they should, but when they appear, it is often meaningful and I find myself attached to them. As for the romance... not going to lie. It sucks. Maya gives off the vibes of the childhood friend role which is seen in anime. While she isn't useless, most of the time she's quite bland. She is kind, supports the main character wholeheartedly, working to support him behind the scenes ,and while she does have some backstory it's not used to the full potential. To me, she's boring. It's completely fine to be bland or bland, but it needs to stand out . Ariana- She's a little better than Maya. Her cuteness is often portrayed better. But other than that, she doesn't offer much, just serving as the other point of the love triangle. Though i do have some interest in her reactions in the latest chapters and we will see how her jealousy corrupts her. That is something to look forward to and would make her interesting. The character I used to like most was Amy. But the author is very inconsistent with her, much like when the MC interacts with the heroines. She is an arrogant bit**, at her core and after being saved by the Mc, there were scenes where she seemed to be having a crush on him. But that had completely disappeared as if it didn't exist, much to my great disappointment. Instead, she later turns weirdly super serious when the concept of the Vanguards are introduced. It's fine to show a hidden super serious side to her, but it should still flaunt her usual demeanour, but i's mellowed out. Instead, when she approached the mc, it's very formal and very unlike her in any way. Then she goes back to being a bit** and ofc the love interest in mc is forgotten and instead she wants to kill him. The problem isn't the idea of wanting to kill him, but rather the fact that development is inconsistent and discarded. An approach that could've been taken was she's torn between her hidden feelings of love with humiliation + her usual persona. That's what I would've liked to see and would make Amy more interesting. Overall, the story isn't a bad read. it really does have some nice twists, i just wished the author developed them and kept foreshadowing, instead of them just popping in, making it feel shoehorned. I will still read the story since the latest chapters seems to finally have plot kick in and I'm interested in seeing the characters, seeing that they are all corrupting at the same time. Though since I come for romance or best girl, the lack of, or rather done mundanely here is really compelling me to drop it. Still waiting for the Amy art and hoping she becomes a heroine. Don't be discouraged by my critique author! Please keep up the work! I did pay to read up to chapter 96, so that says something. Perhaps giving the mc some friends would be great. I think it would serve as great conflict if you did it with Xavier or Rylan. Also Amy as a heroine because the relationship between them can be very interesting, if done right.
Wow I really like that.
Yeah friends hehe xD
Not bad.
Kinda impressed. It was interesting, just feels like a waste to have this character killed off so early. Then again her knowledge seems OP.
or you could request for her to answer truthfully in private.
So nobody else has the burning desire to live? This fate nonsense is poorly done.
Or you could team up with her...
