This novel is amazing and terrible at the same time. There are plenty of reviews saying why it’s good or bad so read those for additional context. The poisons in this book are so prevalent, so disgusting that I want to scream and shout but I keep going. Because it’s good. The primary problem? The female lead. Most annoying character in the history of Webnovel. Half of her characterization is screaming and being overall L.O.U.D. That’s all there is in her interactions. Author thinks it lightens up interactions and makes everything dynamic, but fails horribly. she constantly steamrolls her husband and he barely stands up for himself with a hard stance, choosing the softer route which is just pathetic to me. The other half is being a religious nut. She and her nation of female supremacists are just terrible to read about. It’s not like I can’t fathom that females can be superior in some religion in some space and time and the sole premise hurts my masculinity, but why? It’s like seeing “old man” and “ntr” as a tag if you know what I mean. Great animation and story but just not it. Throughout the whole story, Ves acknowledges that there are problematic, but author DELIBERATELY spins the story so that they are constantly supported by him. Like regular people would take a nation that is OBVIOUSLY bad people and set them up to be an enemy, but the complete opposite happens in the story. Their constant emasculation of our Mc just disgusts me, and I acknowledge that it gets better, but getting over that hurdle is just such a big step… I managed to tolerate it because it’s really a good story and thus rated it as so, but read and ignore people, read and ignore.
It’s ok. I read this expecting the same thing of Birth of the Demonic Sword, and it did not deliver. Half the chapters are romance compared to Noah who has a single minded pursuit and ambition, and his relationship with June doesn’t really dictate everything. This novel on the other hand is different, and his relationship with women takes a frontal role. When the author builds a fan base from a previous novel, readers look to their other works expecting similar themes or developments. If you read this, know it’s not the same as his previous works and is not solely a power fantasy. Read it thinking it’s separate from birth of the demonic sword, and the romance tag that this story has
Annoyed. I read birth of the demonic sword happily. Everything was good: a good plot line, a good Mc, a good ending. There was a single love interest. So why is this book so different. Everything is up to par except for romance. I hate it. It’s fine if it’s one individual and it doesn’t dictate the whole story but holy shit stop creating more out of nowhere, giving them some relevance, dropping them, and repeating. I’m sick of this shit. It’s fine how Khan introspects himself and is on a journey of sled discovery but it’s annoying how many vivid descriptions of his sad expression appears on his face and how a woman feels sad for getting intimate with him or something. Stop it. Getting pissed off and am this close to dropping it. Granted, I don’t have anything else to do but read but still. Please fix I hope fellow readers with the same preferences as me can stay tolerant. If not, save yourself the trouble
Hell yes! A Will eternal and I shall seal the heavens were the only thing attracting me to the Eastern Fantasy Genre! They are similar in some ways but in all honesty after seeing so many trashy knockoffs of books here, common tropes are alright. It’s how you implement them and use them that matters. And Er Gen does so.
