Not quite. If we were following that logic, then since the MC can use 3, then all others couild also use 3. and if they all use 3, then they should all have 9 since they all have it.... So on and so fourth. Each one only eats one, so it adds to 3. If he modified it so they can eat 2 individually, they'll all be able to eat 6 since it adds them together at the end. This does, of course, mean that they could have up to 9 Devil Fruits right now if the other 2 also ate 3 each, but all of them maxing their devil fruits would take away their ability to swim, while one not eating them would let them keep it, so it';d be best to just have one do so for 6 each.
