True, Lung could match the Leviathan, but he needed time to ramp up too... It is same with the MC here. Then age is also his biggest limiting factor and he had only two years to experiment with his Quirk, while Lung had all the experience. The other problem is that is growing bigger and stronger, but as explained, he lost his mind in anger... He was acting like a mindless beast whereas Rikiya was skillfully hitting his weak points
