May not have been a hoax but they did send knowingly send astronauts through the van Allen radiation belt with no protection under the logic of “it will probably be fine since they won’t be there long”
Ah, Set theory causing problems since 1897. The set of all sets doesn’t contain itself
Interesting Note: There is no mention of the devil within the Old or New Testament, however in the story of job there is a angel?/deity?/figure? in Gods court called the opposer who plays what’s is now commonly referred to as a ‘Devils Advocate’ asking God to test his most faithful servant.
That sounds like a debuff more than anything, the people most vulnerable to criminals and psychopaths are usually the most empathetic. It’s a good trait to have in moderation but I can’t see it being a good fit for any pre-modern civ. As some smart guy(can’t remember the philosophers name) once said and loosely paraphrased “Barbarians being ruled by tyrants is an innate good but once you can discuss your problems it ain’t so good any more”
That boondocks scene gets me every time, one of the best shows of our era
Over the course of one winter 50 billion bees in America were wiped out on farms producing almonds, almond milk being one of the largest final product in terms of quantity, therefore I have concluded the bee genocide can be fully blamed liberals, vegans and the like.
1.) I said if you’re willing to accept their data, I understand peoples distrust for the US government and when evidence against something mainly rises from books(not scientific articles) I defer to the government. Stockholm syndrome does affect people, though coined by a criminologist not a psychologist, there is a phenomenon where hostages identify with their captors. Whatever you want to call it, you cant just write off the people affected by this. 2.) I’m not sure what you are saying here, forgive if I’m wrong, but I’m reading this as you saying that people with ‘Stockholm syndrome’ are criminals? Or the ‘Captors’ in incidents leading to the developopment of the pathology are innocent in some way. Or that Stockholm syndrome is used to throw out testimonies of noncompliant people to get the desired verdict in a criminal court. While yes I believe the syndrome is over sensationalized by the media and other public forces. If you could elaborate and give a clearly idea of what you meant that would be appreciated. 3.)While we may not agree on the existence of Stockholm syndrome. I believe you can at least acknowledge that trauma bonding is real, it has long been recognized and is within the DSM-5(A long list of recognized psychological pathology). The syndrome in question was considered for the most recent addition(#5), however the psychologists incharge felt that it fell under PTSD or the aforementioned trauma bonding.
LA is a major city, it’s the second biggest in the US
Doesn’t seem like much has changed
Incorrect. While rare, the FBI identified that 5% of cases result in Stockholm syndrome excluding those who dislike law enforcement/institutions from the sample. While there have been valid criticism of it, that is mainly of the medias willingness to classify people. Other criticism is of using it as a way to discredit people speaking out against institutional problems, however the study by the fbi (if you’re willing to accept their data) eliminates this variable. If you need evidence I can provide it.
