Yeah, you are right. This serves to demonstrate that both Kayn and Noah start at the bottom and will most likely give readers more satisfaction once they triumph over the strong. Their real growth will start from here on so Kayn too will have his moments in which he can prove his worth. And by the way, Kayn is far more experienced in 1vs1 than in group fights.

True enough. With extreme cases like what would have happened to Kayn, they would have interfered at the last possible second to avoid wasting any precious resources on him. For other injured people, they will provide an elixir to patch them up but that will be highly diluted with water so that they can minimize the cost that arises for them.

Now as the story progresses, I want to make the reader establish a sort of connection with the MC, and to make that, I will try to make him more relatable. To achieve that, he won't be as crazy as originally introduced since I doubt that the readers are serial killers that murder to create art. So yeah, he will be more "normal" though his craziness is necessary for the story so it will always play a part.
