I had the impression that it was winter because I was rereading it and I thought the last mention of the season was in Ch. 54 (where it was still winter). if it's a bladed spear, that's a distinction that deserves to be mentioned in-story. As nice as clarification is in author notes.
***Note: the spear in this chapter is the one referred to as Mao, a spear that has a short two-bladed sword as the spearhead. Common soldiers in this novel would use spears known as Qiang, while cultivators would generally use Mao. I will post a descriptive picture in the comments of this chapter for anyone interested.
