It was Obito Sharingan that was visible when he possessed Menma.

My initial idea was that Menma could only achieve KCM 1 because he didn't earn Kurama's friendship and forcefully used his chakra. So, even with Yang Kurama's chakra, KCM 2 would be out of reach. But then I saw this comment on YouTube that changed my mind. This guy made a lot of sense, so I'm retconning my idea.

Yes, he will achieve a Kyubi Mode, but initially, it will be limited to KCM 1 since he currently possesses only Kurama's Yin chakra. Once he obtains the Yang chakra, either from Naruto or by returning to his own dimension to extract it from Sakura's deceased father, he'll unlock KCM 2. I'm still contemplating whether to grant him Baryon Mode, as I haven't decided if I'll incorporate the Boruto series into this novel. If I do, we might see appearances from Time-Traveling Sasuke and Boruto."

Woah, that’s a really cool concept! Imagine if this "love" Kurama became entirely devoted to a single person, say, Madara Uchiha. In this mirror-universe Madara who actually befriended Kurama, treating him as a true companion. They journey together, sharing a bond built on mutual respect and understanding. But then, tragedy strikes! During their final battle, Hashirama kills Madara, and to add insult to injury, Hashirama uses his Wood Release to subdue Kurama, chaining him and forcibly binding him to Mito Uzumaki. She seals Kurama within herself, without the traditional cage, using her Uzumaki chakra chains. Over time, Kurama is passed from Mito to Kushina Uzumaki, and eventually to Menma Uzumaki. Each transfer further strips away Kurama’s freedom and the love he once held for humanity. Heartbroken and enraged, Kurama’s love twists into hatred. The betrayal scars him deeply, and he comes to associate the Uzumaki name with pain and loss. This transforms him into a vengeance-fueled being, his power amplified by his obsession and grief. In this state, he becomes far more dangerous than the original Kurama, driven by the intensity of his emotions. I’m definitely putting this idea into Menma’s backstory, you’ve given me a lot to think about. Thanks for the inspiration!

In the movie, they didn’t really delve into Menma’s Nine Tails much, so I’m not entirely sure if it’s meant to be the evil counterpart of Naruto’s Nine Tails or not. Based on what was shown, my speculation is that, Yeah Menma’s Kurama is probably evil, as they’re portrayed as opposites. That said, they do have similarities. Both get very angry and wild when their Nine Tails chakra is used, and both are influenced by the hatred within the chakra. Whwn the two Nine Tails fight, they even use similar abilities. The main difference seems to be that Naruto’s nine tails represents Yang, while Menma’s represents Yin. This likely explains why Menma has unique abilities, like manipulating gravity, summoning the nine masked beasts, and using the Spiraling Ring, a technique capable of massive destruction, reminiscent of Pain’s assault on Konoha. Another key difference is the sealing situation. Naruto’s Nine Tails is restrained by a seal, while Menma’s isn’t, giving him easy access to the chakra. Menma uses it extensively, which might explain why he became evil. It’s also posible that Menma used his chakra chains to bind Kurama, allowing him to completely control it and force it to obey his will.

Yeah, that would've been a way better start. A solid opening chapter makes all the difference. Honestly, I wasn't exactly sweating blood on this thing, when I first wrote chapter 1. I thought, 'Eh, why not?' So, I killed a dude and shoved him in Menma's body. Boom, story.

Look, I appreciate the feedback. I've been waiting for someone to point out the flaws in my character, the stuff I'm too close to see. for that, I need to see my character from another's perspective. So, thanks. I'll explain my thinking, so you understand where I'm coming from. My character is basically a regular dude in Menma's body. The only "Menma" parts are the instincts, the abilities, and flashes of memory when he's in combat, training, actively trying to recall Menma's past, or when his life's on the line. Yeah the protagonist is very scared, he's got issues. He's terrified of losing his mind to Menma's influence, especially that whole curse mark thing. Imagine you're about to have your first schizophrenic break, and the only thing stopping it is to completely abandon what you are doing right now. In his case in chapter 1,2,3. He's avoiding fights to keep the cursed chakra from messing with his head. He's choosing short-term relief over long-term solutions, because he is dumb enough to shove that problem away, thinking that future, him, can deal with it. Same deal with agreeing with Orochimaru - he got played by a few smooth words, and a little threats, however dumb they sound to others, made sense in his messed-up situation. About the Sound ninja, yeah, you're right. He should've taken them out. It was dumb to let them go. But, he's still clinging to his morals. He still values human life, hurting them or killing them, even if it's stupid in this world. That'll change as he adapts, but for now, that's where he's at, his major driving force is Menma's influence. I'm trying to avoid the whole 'perfect character' Mary Sue trap. And I screwed up, I've been so focused and obsessed on making the Naruto characters act like their canon selves that I've neglected my own protagonist. He's been passive, a passenger in his own story. Bottom line: his presence is weak. I hear you, and I'm going to work on it. I'll do better

I’m just testing if they got that spark, If it ain't there, I'm jumping off this ship. I'm all about that undeniable chemistry. Gotta be the pairing that makes everyone go, 'Yeah, THAT's the one!'
