So I read ahead on the raw translation. This book is not the quality it seems. It's worse. Around chapter 200 you realize he doesn't kill human enemies. He leaves them alive even if they tried multiple times to kill him. He doesn't retaliate to actions taken against him. The one group of people that are actually on his side he leaves every 2 seconds. He is a monster unable to be accepted into the human world but decides to go there anyways. I might still read the raw a bit to see if it improves. However close to 200 chapters in it ain't worth it.

Now that is not to bad mouth Athena, but just saying that outside of Homer Ares and Athena are both part of the 12 and both have their specialized aspects. Thus it follows myth logic more that Ares would be a stronger fighter. However you could just say that you take Homer as the most reliable decision maker in mythological stories, and throw out the other broader views. But even though mythologies arent too consistent, I personally believe that the specialities of the gods play an important defining role as the before Homer's story that is the most consistent view on the gods.
