If his kubfu goes dark type, his team will only have a fire, ground and steel weakness which could be covered by a water type. Kubfu could go water type, but that would leave his team weak to electric, ground, psychic and ghost, which would be covered by a dark type. If the author somehow makes his kubfu both dark and water, or if it could swap between them, his team would have no weaknesses. At most some neutral resistance. My bet is either Lucario for the MC's aura abilities, or a Slowbro evolution for the water coverage as well as the Johan family psychic techniques. Wouldn't be surprised if he didn't get a water type though, because Dragonair knows water moves.
