I don't see any locked chapters, but then again I'm only at around chapter 1000 out of 4000. I can't imagine reaching the locked chapters without getting sick of the story first. You can binge the first few hundred chapters like a single novel, but after that it's episodic and definitely not good for reading in large batches. Don't trust anyone who says this is terrible because the protagonist isn't behaving the way they want. They want a traditional gary-stu. Schiller is a mentally ill gary-stu, which is a very loudly broadcasted motif in the early chapters. This makes the story better. Not worse. The fact the DC world and the Marvel world is slowly improving compared to their canon isn't because of some deus-ex-machina protag who saves everybody, but rather because Schiller forces everyone to address their mental issues even if it's on a more superficial level sometimes. And thus the author takes liberal interpretations of the characters' motivations (which is par for the course for canonical movie makers, cartoonists, and comic writers of DC/Marvel). 100% you're going to run into an episode you don't like as a result. Either because you don't agree with the tone the author uses in contrast to the canon material or the underlying origins of canonical plot-devices. For me it's symbiotes and Alfred, but I still say this is the best DC/Marvel fanfic I've ever read.
If only we could have a snippet where canon Batman reacts to the Schiller Universe Batman/Gotham characters.
With the serum and everything else the author has tossed at Peter it is possible. And it's not like we haven't seen alternate versions of Peter before. But at the end of the day, I still expect Peter Parker to be a better human being than Self-Insert-McJackHimselfOff.
This kind of thing is just proof the author doesn't know the real racism Chinese American people have to deal with. Unless you're black and thus immune to being called racist, this kind of overt racism is never seen. You might see it in a room full of white people in a private gathering, but self-policing of racism has made them far more insidious and furtive with they way they do it. If you're black, you can literally sucker a punch an innocent Chinese grandma shopping for vegetables and cry racism if anyone calls you out for your racism.
The SI is subsumed by the OC, but the problem is that there is zero character development. That means that when the main character goes out to do his thing, the motivation is 1 dimensional (revenge). There isn't a puddle of depth to what he's actually trying to accomplish or what he's going to do later on. I'm fairly certain the video game aspect of this story is interchangeable with any other power/system/cheat. It's probably not going to impact the narrative in any meaningful way aside from letting the MC stomp all his enemies.
Anyone who knows about the Nine Yang Manual is okay in my book, especially as a fanfiction writer.
I appreciate these kinds of prefaces before stories. It really helps when looking for something to read.
Gary Stu protagonist. Good historical description of food. The author takes the groundwork Food Wars lays out, ruins it with Gary-Stu, and tries to salvage it with Slice of Life narration ala' Isekai Restaurant novel writing. The result is a story with nothing going for it in terms of plot development.
The author promises cultivation, but the 600 year old protagonist barely knows the bare minimum to be called a cultivator. The author walks Canon road without truly changing anything while changing everything. "Yup, my Mary Sue protag, fixes everything and thus everything happens exactly as it did in the original story." Lesbian romance is fine, but it's just awkward and uncomfortable in this story. And the most egregious sin, cultivation means nothing except as another power up. It has tribulation lightning, but the immortals don't even glance at One Piece world. You have cultivation- Nope, no you don't. "No energy." You have the evil cultivator master- Oh wait, no you don't. Another person who's the equal of my mary-sue? Gotta kill him off right away. And yes. I'm spoiling it for you. I'm doing you a favor in case you're getting your hopes up. The author literally deletes the character as soon as he shows up. Overall it's just an unpleasant experience. This is the 5 star standard of 2005 fanfiction writing and the 2.8 stars of 2024 fanfiction writing.
